Why I chose the FRITZ! Box 3490?
- I was looking for a successor for my TP-Link TL-WR1043ND which at the Fritz box of KabelBW depends to the wireless strength in the House to improve
- I was looking for a device with WLAN AC
- And at least USB 2.0 (we are honest 3.0 is better)
-> The final reason (despite how I find very high price) is that the AVM products (as in my opinion the Apple products) just work. Especially since they also crash almost never or make other problems in use.
Enjoyed:
- The easy handling
- That no monstrous antennas are attached
- The software
- The establishment
- The NAS function (I use means of a 32GB USB flash drives for files)
- The stable and brisk WLAN (AC)
- The adaptation of the DNS name with 2 Fritz boxes in the network (eg "fritz.box" and "Fritz box 3490" with me)
I would recommend this device without exception! As mentioned earlier, the only sticking point in my view is really the price. Who has to overcome great distances, which should already expect before buying the wireless extension through repeater or these additional miteinkalkulieren, since the range certainly could be better. For me it is not necessary to happiness, but we are talking with me "only" a maximum of 15 meters and a maximum of 2 floors
Supplement 04.10.2015:
what is negative, I noticed in the meantime:
- The name "fritz.nas" can not change and thus the operation of 2x "fritz.nas" with 2 Fritz boxes on the network does not work perfectly. While it works (in my case a "//fritz.box/fritz.nas" and the other "//fritzbox-3490/fritzbox.3490/" but this is not an optimum solution and there is no solution by AVM - have requested
- What this is complicated by (subjective): if both be used as a NAS with USB Stick deteriorates with me the WLAN noticeably
- Then went with the latest firmware in the performance of WLANs again to its knees. (For this I have a simple test: I always smoke at the house in the same place, always with iPone 5S and always with TuneIn Radio Pro via WLAN This now works no longer and even Whatsapp is no longer there and I downgraded now.! it better.
I stay exclusively at the 5 stars because the software is so Easy. Normally I would now deduct 1-2 stars !!!
