At first I bought this lens because of the very good price. However, I was thrilled at the first recording reached in terms of focus and autofocus. The autofocus seat easily. Then I thought to myself, what is now on the 1000 Euros more expensive Nikkor 70-200 2.8 VR II better? Because I wanted to get out to get the most out of my D800, I ordered the Nikkor and was willing to pay 1000 euros more. The disillusionment came then, the autofocus never hit the point. With focal length of 200 Focus 1.5 meters sat behind the point. I did not manage to set the autofocus properly. The sharpness of the Nikkor recordings could not keep up with the Sigma. As I said, I have tested it only on the D800. What about Crop cameras, I can not say unfortunately.
The image stabilizer is super good so that even with the D800 sports shots are even very possible. Even 5 megapixel image sections have a fantastic quality. I put a few pictures (cat, aircraft and balloon butterfly in the gallery. For me as an amateur photographer's lens is great. I think also for the little photographer who needs the lens professionally, the lens is sufficient. But what I have read here so that objective ought to depend on a full frame camera.
What is not so great about the lens? The heavy weight? The slightly higher electricity consumption? But those are all things that are normal for such a lens.
