The list of bands that had been its ammunition after an outstanding debut album and have disappeared from the scene is a mile long. After great 2012er debut album "Night Visions" So you could well be wondering what would deliver "Imagine Dragons" with the successor "Smoke + Mirrors". For general sedative must be said - that fits! The indie rockers from Las Vegas have again delivered a strong album that bock is on the same level as the previous move - that's saying something! In "Smoke + Mirrors" the quartet from Nevada offers his proven style mix of rock music with distinct influences from country and folk area. The best example of this is "I bet my life", a real earworm of a just do not get out of your head. Ever this album impresses with its high hit potential, like with every run "Smoke + Mirrors" better and more and more songs burn formally in the ear canals without which one can resist it. "Smoke + Mirrors" acts varied, playful and bursting with good ideas that have been implemented perfectly. For this reason also comes at no time to boredom, there is at each pass something new to discover. The pleasant, warm and varied voice of Dan Reynolds also helps to make for a very good album, a special album. As always when something is successful comes immediately someone with the "commerce-lobe" around the corner, and I have read the accusation that this music "radio friendly" would be! Hääää .... Waaas ???? I keep asking myself what does that mean and why commercially successful music that is running on the radio be bad ?! Well, that probably only know these "professionals" and "music connoisseur"! :-) Anyway, I find the "Smoke + Mirror" a very good album is on the no really weak songs or filler can be found. My highlights are "Hopeless Opus" in addition to the already mentioned "I bet my life", nor "Shots", "Smoke + Mirrors", "Polaroid", "It comes back to you", "Trouble", "The Fall" and ,
My conclusion: If you like indie rock with influences from folk and country area will be happy with this album - thumbs up!
