The author takes us here in one of the biggest trial of history, that of senior Nazi officials, among the closest of Hitler captured at the end of the 39-45 War. While the Nuremberg Trials will begin, an American psychiatrist, Dr. Kelley, has to rub them in their cells to try to understand who they are, how they have become the 'monsters' and if s' acts of madness or psychopathy. Based on witnesses (including, mainly, the son of Dr. KELLEY), letters and archives, Jack El-Hai, historian, gives us a document that reads like a novel. We discover a Herman Goering face 'human' ', some cowardice, many perversity. We follow with great interest the research of Dr. Kelley and how, little by little, the man takes over the psychiatrist. Equally interesting, we discover psychiatry at the time, which were based on psychiatrists to diagnose a patient. As at the end of life of Dr. KELLEY equally exciting and sensational ... the reader is led to believe that this meeting with Goering and others, is for many.
A book FAVORITE, easy to read, comprehensive and well documented.
