Great radiator thermostat

Great radiator thermostat

Customer Review

I already had the predecessor series HR20 in use, with whom I had come quite satisfied. Since I live instantly for rent and will not affect the control of the heating system have (appears around the clock to heat full power), the programmable thermostats are a convenient way to save energy. The real advantage, however, in my view, in the amenities (hot bathroom morning after getting up to no longer have to think after work warm apartment, the evening because the heater to put down, ...)
The change from HR20 to HR30 + I performed because Amazon has made a great Advent offer and I was just curious about some of the features of the HR30 +. A "reasonable" reason there was not so first because the HR20 still have faithfully provided your service for over 4 years.

In direct comparison have the HR30 + but really clear to me in the lead:

Style:
It is certainly a matter of taste which design you prefer something. For me personally, the HR30 + something-quality and thoughtful acts. However, the HR20 is definitely not unattractive. So here a point for both!

Display:
Here, the HR30 + clearly in the lead. The display is more than twice as large, is illuminated when you press a switch or the setting wheel for a few seconds and are in addition to the temperature, Modi and switching times display nor the battery level known from the HR20 to, and a text which displays the current mode, but is really helpful later when programming! In addition, the display can be set up as needed and if necessary lock the enclosed plastic wedge. Certainly makes sense when you want to have the display grade erected in niches that I would otherwise have a fear that the display when hooked behind very unfavorable could break. The displays are not installed on all radiators with me, but a good way. Here: Home win for the HR30 High +!

Batteries:
Here, too, compared to the HR20 done a lot: The battery compartment is now no longer hidden deep in the device, but is just behind the wheel. To change the batteries no longer the entire thermostat must be removed, but only the front door open. Then the batteries no longer disappear in "bays", but are simply inserted. When HR20 I had partially the problem that the batteries used by me very tightly lay partly in the shafts, so that they did indeed get clean, removing but very, very difficult. That has now really done the HR30 +, since the batteries really are here in a battery compartment without disappearing entirely. Although I also thought that AA batteries should actually be standardized, but it does seem to be minimal deviations in diameter.
In addition offers the HR30 + the ability to store the battery type in the parameters. Here are 3 types: normal batteries, lithium batteries and normal batteries. Again: Clear victory for the HR30 +.

Assembly:
The assembly of the HR30 + is very simple: You screw only the connector on the valve (there are also adapter attached!), Put the thermostat on it, locks the slide and go! The connecting piece to the valve is at the HR30 + only plastic, whereas the HR20 at least the Verschreubung was still made of metal. That bothers me but not really, because both work well.
The simple slide for unlocking or locking can be considerably simpler to operate than the two lateral slide the HR20. Here I would say: draw.

Programming:
Logically: More functions also mean more effort! This I could not find the direct comparison of the HR20 to HR30 +. Certainly the manual is important to adjust the particular, since they are almost only "encodes" shown on the display 16 parameter. Then appear the no. Of the parameter, the parameter number and the number of the current setting in the display. But with the clear manual setting is also very easy!
Unlike the HR20 provides the HR30 + also the possibility to deposit on Monday to Friday and Saturday to Sunday, a unified program. Anyone who has a regulated week, here certainly saves effort. But it is also further possible to program each day individually.
The commissioning of the HR30 + after inserting the batteries:
1. Selection of language (standard is German)
2nd hour
3. Minute
4th year
5th month
Day 6
If these values are set by means of adjusting wheel, the HR30 + theoretically can start right away, as a standard program is already set (In total there are three programs stored, which are explained in the manual).

I then set my own program for weekday and weekend. Overall this are 3 temperatures and day 6 switching times available.
The programming is very simple:
1. Press the button PROG
2. Select the means of adjusting wheel of the 8 ways to edit area
3. Confirm by pressing OK
4. make setting
5. Save by OK
6. Once everything is set, leave the AUTO button again to program

Adjusting the parameters:
1. Press the PROG button (less than 10 sec.) Longer
2. Select the parameter using the setting wheel
3. Start editing with OK
4. Select the setting means of adjusting wheel and manual
5. Press OK to save
6. Once everything is set, leave the AUTO button again to program

Overall, I for programming and the installation per thermostat about 10 minutes used (Unscrew old HR20, HR20 batteries from the program in the HR30 +, HR30 + and screw). Total also for clearer programming, despite more functions: clear advantage for the HR30 +.

More functions:
Unlike the HR20 provides the HR30 + also following, more or less useful features:
- Adjusting the temperature in order to regulate as exactly as possible (eg balance of accumulated heat)
- Adjusting the sensitivity of the "window function"
- Display of the measured temperature
- Set maximum and Lowest values that can be set
- The already mentioned setting the battery type
- The optimization function (to be started at the beginning of the switching time until the heating, or is already the temperature to be reached?)
- Display of the valve position
- Establishing a "special day"
- Setting the holiday (in days)
- Party Mode (setting in hours)

A feature I would like to emphasize separately below: The manual override when the thermostat (no batteries on hand, broken, ...) is not even ready. The connector with which the HR30 + is attached to the valve of the radiator, has an adjusting wheel, on which one can regulate the radiator manually. Simply set remove the HR30 + means slide and then on the wheel directly adjust the radiator. Of course, one finds no figures for valve status and the wheel is not necessarily suitable for Grobmotoriker, but that's quite a sensible idea!

In summary, I can say that I definitely do not regret the change of HR20 to HR30 +! The improvement between the two models are actually managed. I would like to emphasize here again the following points:
- Larger, beleutetes display
- More elaborate battery compartment
- 3 temperature specifications
- 6 switching times per day
- Fine adjustment parameters (temperature offset, minimum and maximum temperature, fine adjustment of the window function, ...)
- Manual override
- Easy installation and programming

The advertised by the manufacturer 30% savings will be not necessarily be achieved if you are already aware in advance to deal with its own heating, but a saving of about 10% is realistic because of the HR30 +
- The temperature is controlled precisely
- You will never forget to regulate the heating down
- And with the windows open, the heating is automatically runtergeregelt

Drüber, the HR30 + (all other programmable thermostats) provides the convenience that one example in the morning comes in a comforting, warm dip or the apartment is already preheated after work.

The acquisition is worth it for rental, at which one does not own influence on the heating system, definitely! In your own home, where you have the heating under "control", the saving potential is likely to be somewhat lower and you must also ensure yourself that the heater will run even if the thermostat to work.

From me therefore 5 star and full purchase recommendation for a successful product!
