Sly 4 ... After 8 years of waiting (2005-2013), he finally released! Joy, happiness, which for me has seen the first installment on the PS2 (also in order), and then on PS3. Yet I do not put it 3 stars. Why? No, this game is not bad, far from it. But it suffers from defects. Note Amazon does not allow me to put half and half (3/6 for example); I therefore put 3 because 4, no, that's too much.

The graphics and music are good, except for Carmelita I find frankly failed. Nothing to say about that. The sound effects are also not bad. However, other "technical" aspects repel me frankly. Already camera recurring problems almost identical to those of Sly 2, dating from ... 2004 I think. This is not acceptable. You turn the camera and is "stuck" often; this was corrected since Sly 3. Unacceptable and embarrassing.
Next, the function in the mini-games (or parts of the missions) of joystick to move his head a "spark"; not so at all, it comes and goes at will, not your own, and you are obliged to go through that to continue your progress, it is torture ... Something that wants the order of improvement but could have been much more to the point than that.
The loads are also the order of the unbearable, soooooo long.

The levels are graphiquements beautiful, but they are complex, very complex, and the level map only serves to virtually nothing, it is not clear at all and depends on the position of your character in space. Furthermore it does not include the verticality of the space, which will take you sometime during certain missions in vainly searching for minutes something you see the "checkpoint" but you can not reach . The levels are so much harder to detect than Sly 3, and even Sly 2 (levels of complexity Countess were masterpieces), but this can be seen as a benefit (very worked levels) or as a disadvantage.
There bottles, timed treasures and masks to look everywhere, and it's a real challenge (some of these are even hidden within missions). However, it is also a way of trying to artificially prolong the life of the game, given the difficulty finding them through the levels ...
Because yes, Sly suffers from a major flaw: its lifetime. And especially if you've played other Sly before. For certain missions overlap with those of Sly 2 or 3; large sections are identical sometimes it is striking, but if at first it enthusiastically, in the end it tired ... There has however completely original missions, and always this crazy side to clean the series. Too missions also play on the complexity level (go for such an object in one place level), and thus artificially extended.

I also have a problem in the script. Sanzaru changed the sense that the end of Sly 3 Sly 4 could give; in this ending, Bentley was talking about back in time to "recover" Sly - insinuating that he was now lost to them, more or less. There, entries disappear from Volus Ratonus so they must go back in time to understand why ... It's radically different anyway!
The ancestors encountered are also full of clichés, some racist (Japanese saying mysterious phrases, Arabic with a flying carpet ...). Well, talking about clichés! They are also sexist. Carmelita required to pass a woman cop, sexy little flattering and comfortable ... but a downright vulgar outfit! Small high showing more than the belly (or almost) and little skirt "belt" ... What need was there to dress well? Moreover, it leaves several times to capture as a "blue" and plays the damsel in distress, and the belly dancer or the one who sells his victory against kiss ... Well, finally! Carmelita was one of the most independent of all heroines, now it's a prostitute, sorry!
Some passages are incomprehensible, I have for example never understood why Murray was upset during the episode of Grizz. The ancestors are found completely by chance (while there, the shot of Bob, prehistoric ancestor, which is the same analysis with the Dna Binocom Bentley hat!), It does not shock anyone, and with few exceptions, ancestors all believe in the story of Sly faster or slower. Bentley plans are even more far-fetched, I realized there is nothing very often ... maybe replaying it?
The big bad is really sucks, I never found the Doctor M (Sly 3) terrible but hey, there it surpasses anything I think ... He has not even done the job himself! And no comparison can Clockwerk course ... The fight is also lamentable end, we just have to press the buttons we are told (round - cross - square - triangle) ... Conversely, fighting with others bad guys are really not bad. Go to understand something ...
Obviously, we will never have the slightest beginning of pet romance between Sly and Carmelita, apart from a vague in the end "- Sly, I ... - No, I understand" (???). And of course, as she is not happy that he was not really amnesia, she wants him to death all along ... But the fact that if he had really been it would have been disgusting on his part to hide his true past, it obscures ...

As in previous games, Sly is more "playable" and handier than his friends, though each has its own improvements and attacks. I think Murray has become virtually unplayable because it moves in a curious way (as with a broom in the ... ahem), and his shots have changed keys between 3 and 4 (very hard to the Hippopocrash particular). No separate costumes for Sly (except for Geisha Mrs Murray but did not hide, so no use); a lot of missions where they are or Bentley Murray beginning ... To be interrupted along the way by Sly and his ancestors! They are already much by the poor, so good ... That said, it was already the case in other Sly. Good point, the "essential" improvements come at the beginning: Paraglisser, bombs ... Some feel that this is a flaw not me!

Last point I would criticize is the lack of multiplayer. There was one in Sly 3, it was perfectible but had the merit to exist. There, nothing. This is inexcusable in the era of PS3 consoles and connected.

Okay, I admit, I hit very severely on this game. But I also spent a great time on it. The fact is that if I had made a critical incensing its positive points, it would have nothing further, since most comments just say "it's too good." I prefer nuance: this game is good, it's undeniable. It is fun, cheap, and Sly remains a character (and a world) attaching (s). However it suffers from technical flaws inexcusable (but not preventing the globally gameplay), a scenario and characters worked just as well as an attempt to "inflate" artificially lifespan of the game. C It is a shame because if sanzaru games is was bothered, he could work out of the year, I'm sure ... hope that Sly is better 5, washed of these defects!
