The design is awesome, the EOS M with the Pancake has then only very compact size and can be carried in a jacket pocket, it is barely larger than a compact camera.
The material quality has also convinced me, tactile and visually represents the Pancake standard Zoom in every way, it looks good and feels too good.
However, what has moved me to return, are the following two points:
a) The speed of the autofocus is slowed drastically and photographs of my little daughter who is rarely stand still, were hardly or only cumbersome possible. Had until the AF focus, my motive was a bit further again. Zig shots were blurry. I have tested the various AF and shooting modes with the Pancake, the respective results have simply not made me happy.
My reference product was about the Nikon 1 V1 with the Pancake 18.5mm, here was any shooting in any situation sharply.
b) The shutter sound is unattractive, according to the 22mm pancake and just sounds kinda gross mechanically?!?

Apparently I had a Monday model because in a repeated order of the lens, the coarse, mechanically sounding shutter sounds were gone. It now sounds like it should be fine and barely audible.
After the latest firmware update, the AF speed has also increased, this increase in speed is now acceptable if it still just as sufficient for sports or children photography. The strengths of the pancake are also at close range because the bokeh is beautiful, it can thus make brilliant shots.
