A first look at the result ... my goodness ... hundreds of radio alarm clocks.
So once set the KO criteria, or which functions must necessarily be because:
- DAB be had: The old clock rustled but strong, depending on how the wire antenna dangling behind the bed.
- 2 alarm times. Nice to have the DITALIO in addition to arouse the adjustment only on weekdays.
- Storage of the alarms after a power failure. With today's possibilities of memory chips, it is strange that there still are alarm clock, lose the alarms.
- Price should be below 60, - EUR are. I wants to wake you up and listen, no concert.
These were the KO-criteria which had to comply with the new device.
When comparing the results with other devices then following points have led to the decision:
- Housing size or footprint: on my bedside table is next to the lamp and a book / tablet not much floor space left.
- Rod antenna. Although there are divided opinions on this, I did not have good experience with the old wire antenna. And a chrome rod antenna are all more than a forth 8cm long cable, the then rumbaumelt somewhere.
- 5 brightness levels. I can only speak for myself: the darkest stage can in my opinion no one awake at night. And the display is easy to read, except in sleep. This is however less on display than at my 6 diopters ...
No purchase decision, as this was not documented in the description, but still super:
- After the radio has aroused one, it runs for 1 hour. That was my old alarm clock radio also and this was very convenient as I need to get up about this time, to judge me. So you always have music while walking between the bathroom and bedroom as well as breakfast.
The following points are in fact not so praqktisch, but lead - at least for me - not to the point deduction, because I it in operation barely change something or pretending:
- Change the radio station. This has already been criticized and is really awkward. With +/- by 22 stations (as much as he has found me) leaves, then select with Select. One can save his 10 favorites from the transmitters found that does not make it practical. It makes sense would be a rotary knob, which browsed the transmitter.
- The menu navigation is understandable press of the menu functionality 3sec, then select with +/-, press Selct ... all good, but unfortunately the few signs of the display for a menu are not suitable. Well, yeah, a 21-dot matrix display with 20 characters or more will cost just a pack more.
But that was about it.
The device is a breeze. Plugging, after about 10 seconds, the clock is set automatically. After another 60 seconds, the DAB stations are found and you can scroll through right away and try. Nice place calibration that I now have stations that analog are not receiving. (This of course has nothing to do with the alarm clock, but the DAB reception. I wanted to mention it anyway).
The alarm setting does not open up the same, but after looking in the clear manual, the alarm can be set quickly. And now it is also clear why the setting is so extensive. You can not only set the time, but separately for each of the two alarms:
- Alarm time
- Alarm (daily, weekends, weekdays)
- Transmitter (current station, fixed station assigned to the alarm)
- DAB or FM station or buzzer
- Volume, to be awakened by the
The housing surface feels great to, not the usual, smooth and scratch-sensitive plastic housing. It is dull and feels like leather. I find it great.
Not tested, since I do not need that are Sleep (Sleep Timer) and Aufweckverzögerung (Snooze).
All in all, up to now a fully recommendable device.
