And now to the actual review. Yes, I'm a fan of the FF, own all albums and hear this band very much. And also the latest work has drawn me into its spell. It is an album that has an incredible amount of variety, subtlety and precision.
Important to know, in any case, that Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace is an album that needs time to unfold. There are a whole bunch of songs that one does not really open up for the first Hördurchläufen. The true greatness of this work can be seen only when one "reingehört" has become.
My opinion about the individual songs:
1. The Pretender 9/10
Yes, Dave, we can hear you!
The first single from the album is rocking the same frontal forward and works quickly high in my list of "favorite tracks" the Foo Fighters. An absolute highlight of the album. The song shines with rich rock widescreen Sound across the board. Perfect single, brilliant opener, hats off Foo`s.
2. Let It Die 10/10
Bääm. Yet another board. Begins quietly, but builds up more and more, and when the rousing chorus begins, it is clear that is FF at it`s best. The song just builds up brilliantly and ends in a groovy rock Inferno. Give this title definitely some time to unfold and ye shall be, as well as to The Pretender can no longer listen to it full. For me even a little bit better than The Pretender.
3. Erase / Replace 8/10
Honestly, I could start with this track at first nich much, but with time, I realized Erase / Replace, has somehow what. The song is grooving in front of him and definitely has a successful chorus and also rocks quite well. Nevertheless does not come completely ran the first two titles.
4. Long Road to Ruin 7/10
Well. Is just a zeimlich mass-single, which has the structure of a simple pop songs. No skin off your feet, is also nothing special. Despite an anthemic chorus is one delivered to sing along.
5. Come Alive 8/10
Interestingly song. FF builds typically slowly continues on, but is something gewöhnungsbedürfig. But is at a high musical level and is a successful rock song.
6. Stranger Things Have Happened 7.5 / 10
It is more relaxed. A nice, quiet piece, with cool deposits guitar later in Song. Dave Grohl`s voice sounds great, there is a pretty melody, the song is a total maintained rather simplistic and emotional coming over. Not to be sneezed at.
7. Cheer Up, Boys (Your Make-Up is running) 8/10
Suddenly it sweeps punky rock bomb on board. Here harsher tones are struck again. Bottom line, it is a song that has to evolve until not ignite at first listen. Cheer Up, Boys rock but then really good, nice uptempo number.
8. Summer`s End 6.5 / 10
Hmmm. If somehow from pretty. In itself it is not a bad song, but I could despite a nice guitar solos never really carried away.
9. The Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners 6.5 / 10
There not much to say. Who is on it ... I would be a further real song rather than have this purely instrumentalische piece. Certainly not bad, but simply spectacular.
10. Statues 7.5 / 10
Many will this song, cursed as the worst of the album, that's certainly Geschamckssache but I hoers from and to me very much like to. Overall, a bit flat, and by the sounds of her it is certainly not like any.
11. But, Honestly 8/10
Another song takes time. But I think that this track is still above average. Initially, the whole behaves very quiet and you trust the title is no longer the great, rocking trailer. I mags quite like, even if 8/10 is already quite generous ...
12.Home 8.5 / 10
The very quiet and dreamy ballad Home goodbye an album that I have grown to love. Great for the quieter moments and Grohl`s voice fascinates me here again, great.
Phew, so much to the individual tracks.
What I have so everything belongs to criticism and my opinion about it:
- The album is boring
Oh really? Well, you should inform yourself. It is known that the Foo`s also many quieter tones strike that also as the piano (which is not often been in the FF) takes place in a few songs.
Who cares, cares not for sale.
-There is no development, there is a rehash of older albums
No musical development? I do not find. The Foo FIGHTER have become contemporary and still not end up in the insignificance of the mainstream.
Have we heard it all before? No not true. I think even more that the Foo`s break with this drive for new shores. It's actually an enhanced version of In Your Honor. Seen only musically, much, much better and with a lot of new sounds (eg country, folk).
Conclusion: What the Foo`s have created here after many years of band history, is more than remarkable. For me, this album is a feat that has washed himself. The album needs, as I said some time to unfold and develop.
I am looking forward to the next total work of this great band that hopefully muskalisch based on Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, and this still topt. When it comes so, I can promise that there will be a fucking masterpiece.
