I bought the Borner remote control as a substitute for Sony RM-ED019 because this was broken after 2 years or the key contacts were worn, which is very embarrassing for a world company like Sony, especially since an original spare would be similarly inferior, but for three times more expensive than the Borner. The latter already convinced of the box by a perceptible better quality processing. The keys are indeed of (hard) plastic instead of rubber, but convincing, while the Sony-operation was very vague and inaccurate by a tight fit and clear pressure point. Especially the arrow keys-loin is significantly better in Borner, as each arrow is on a separate contact plate. That the functionality is limited in contrast to the Sony original, is merely a blemish, as I'm not too lazy to use my VCR for the designated use.
