Tom Carbone, Ultimate Volume 1: (Album)

Customer Review

Why did I buy this book, there is a moment because it only just emerged from the pile? Probably because of the cover. But perhaps also because of the foliation in bookstores "brick & mortar" of Tom (e) 2. I really remember. Anyway, we had all the same so I'm interested in a long format Beau Journal de Spirou, which I have read the equivalent of a 20aine years of publication in half this time interval, and there has been a long time!
"Tom Carbone" is the work of two Belgian town, one is French-speaking, the other Dutch. They began to be published for the adventures of this carbon in 1985 complete stories of four to eleven pages first, before the authors do engage in marathons in 44 boards!
Tom Carbone, he is a young man rather big and strong, which is not much more than to live in his house, the small reed Avenue, right next to that of a forty irascible and mustache, gardener and vegan called Racine. Physically, it is a mix between the "neighbor" Marc Lebut Mr. Goular (series "Ford T" Beau Journal de Spirou in there more than 35 years), and the Achilles Heel, Hilarion lefuneste (Pilot, mastiff, which newspaper in the 1960s and early seventies!). Tom Carbone has a young nephew who lives at home. One sees it in the first few short stories and it is never a truly decisive character of the dynamics of the series.
So Carbone does nothing else in his life that seem to live with him, to have custody of the nephew and annoy Racine, who did not need that to start with a quarter turn. At first systematically enough to make it the mark of the series, a story told is embedded in the story set or replaces the main continuity. Whatever the story, in general, it goes very fast and spin in the first "adventure", called "croissants", exemplifies what follows.
The style of the designer Luc Cromheecke's all the time very simple in appearance but tends towards greater expressiveness and dynamism all along this first volume. In glowing terms, imagine that Binet Jannin meeting that Aragonés meeting. The scenarios Laurent Letzer are some continuity in Spirou, made loads of fun not complicated, of "borderline" voltages (a little "pee poo" at the time) and surrealist poetry veering "portnawak" at the slightest occasion. A recipe I ingested early and when I see tonight that I stayed "addict"!
This first volume contains the value of four albums of 44 pages, with a very informative interview the two main authors as an introduction. The first stories were brief and were compiled into two real albums that form the first half of this first volume of the integral. The next album, 43 pages, although everything finished by its authors, has not been published before this integral. Any more than the No. 4, also a long format, which is even stayed for ever as simple "breakdowns" or even to the last pages, vague sketches way 'Tintin and Alph-Art'. The two unpublished end up making the pair, the second offering following the first, although we do not expect it at all after the last pages of Volume 3 and the first pages of Volume 4. The narrative of this "arc "in two movements gives in science fiction delusional to the point that Racine is found in the position of his savior hated neighbor, Sancho Panza in a beanpole butcher of Deu-deuche!
We must clearly have kept his child's soul player Beau Journal de Spirou to best capture the salt of this book!
