"Love Symbol" is one of the best albums that has produced the genius from Minneapolis in the nineties. From compositional points of view, it may well have been his until then aufwendigstes work. Stylistically, he has, however, gone so no new paths too. Although you can hear here and there massive hip hop influences (The hardcore power radio-opener "My Name Is Prince"), techno sounds and once even sounds reggae, but in his musical home, the ups and downs between radio, rock and soul, to Prince moved here without much innovation (which does not mean that he therefore produces bad stuff). Exciting it is sometimes nevertheless: Particularly where mingle and overlap styles: "3 Chains of Gold", "The Continental" and "7" (Prince sings an entire choir) prove the fresh creativity of the master, the only something is affected by his gained over the years professionalism. Classic-style tracks like "Sexy MF" or "Sweet Baby" show how well it both as the ultimate wireless Macho as a super gentle soul singer is traveling. Between all the musical pearls, there are still a lot of wonderful instrumental work (done by the Prince's house band, the "New Power Generation"), shall be called: Prince has drawn here a really perfect drummer ashore and he himself is also evident from and to be an outstanding guitarist. All in all: "Love Symbol" have in common with "Diamonds and Pearls", "The Gold Experience" and "Emancipation" the best Prince album for "Love Sexy".
