I also think that these are not the old who would go to commit suicide by tens if the media announced the end of the world by proxy meteorite: the older generation lived very hard things and has more head on his shoulders than this book chooses to tell ...
Certainly Pascale Gautier (who writes that apart well) do not like "his" old.
