Rihanna? A new star in the black music sector? Perhaps because the video "Pon De Replay" runs on the relevant music channels already on heavy rotation. But what brings the whole album? In front of me now is "Music of the Sun", 12 tracks plus a bonus remix of the first single It is featured by Elephant (is not really somewhere here? ...). Somehow, I place myself in spite of the upbeat first single to Reggae / Dancehall one, due to the items that I've read so far. Lo and behold, Track No. 2 "Here I Go Again" suggests clearly in this direction. "If It's Lovin 'That You Want" sounds quite fine, in which case R n'B influences eradicate already plentiful. This is followed by a cover of a classic reggae, namely "You Do not Love Me (No No No)" by Dawn Penn. Sounds pretty much like the original in so good! So, that's it then but also already with the Reggae share on the disk, except perhaps "Rush" (track no. 10) which is underlaid with dancehall riddims. The rest of the album consists of successful but also have often belonged to R n'B tracks, ballads included. "That La La La" reminds me of a slower version of Mariah Carey's "It's Like That", nevertheless the song grooves properly. "The Last Time" could be on the last Destiny's Child CD, a relaxed acoustic ballad. "Willing To Wait" is then the first weak song on the album, simply commonplace these R n'B tearjerker. Also, the title track does not tear me away, also reminds me of the refrain at something happened before ... but now come in a rush not on it (please help!). "Let Me" was probably the producer of Amerie's "1 Thing" written, although (or perhaps because of) great song. Towards the end there's more quiet then 2 numbers, "There's A Thug In My Life" (not as exciting) and the gentle piano ballad "Now I Know" (average). Conclusion: "Music Of The Sun" has some really strong songs at the start for people where on the last Destiny's Child or Ashanti slice the variety lacking very recommendable Reggae fans turn but not much of the CD have a total of a strong, varied... debut, but probably a pure Producer disc ...
