Customer Review

One can James Newton Howard like it or not, but it is undeniable that a compositional aspect is in the course of his career has always been pronounced. The End-forties with roots in pop music (James Newton Howard & Friends) has always been a gifted composer cantilevered Triumph topics. Whether its costnerschen works like "Waterworld" and "The Postman", scores like "Dinosaur", "Alive" or "Wyatt Earp", often several main topics were memorable earwigs first order.
After Howard's first Disney commitment Another cartoon by the company with the mouse now is on the agenda, but as "Dinosaur" is a classic cartoon little hat on. "Atlantis - The Lost Empire" focuses on the myth of the lost city of Atlantis and merges a child-friendly story with excitement, adventure and action (!). Here again James Newton Howard has again resorted deep into his subjects treasure chest and has another gem magic to light. Great to hear epic and wonderful it is, and since the orchestration at Howard is now brilliant routine work, the complete score of "Atlantis" can safely be called very good call.
Basically you can say that it is in the score to "Atlantis" to a rewritten, thematically varied and altered version of "Dinosaur". The same musical Urspung the music is just as noticeable as the similar purpose. Thus, the instrumental backbone of a large orchestra, a choir and various ethnic instruments and sonic support from the synthesizer. The result is sound but clearly straight, one might even say less varied than that of "Dinosaur". The instrumentation remains almost the entire score constantly, it lacks clearly articulate nuances of the choir, as the African-tinged passages in which prehistoric spectacle.
Specifically, this means the following: In most cases the strings have a harmonious superiority in the score. In extroverted passages accompanied by fanfare-like brass and percussion, to more peaceful places are added flutes or chimes. The orchestral construct thus generated is worked convincingly at every point, complex and sonically overwhelming. There are many different forms of expression offered by impressive orchestra articulations that sound almost by John Williams, to striking combinations of various instrumental groups. We discover every time you hear a new detail and clearly contributes to the very high fun factor of the CD. Together with the synths and the choir (in some cases even different choirs), the use of which Howard now also perfectly mastered, this impression is reinforced. Every now and then breaking even ethnic percussions by the harmony, as in "Milo meets Kida", and you are speechless. Lei Want guitars on harmonica to add various flutes Howard offers a terrific range of ethnic sprinklings of the exotic to Western typical passages. It is hard to imagine that any score lovers need not inwardly smile at such beautiful music. At the latest on the outstanding points of the scores, such as the track "Just Do It" or "The Submarine" wins the joyful pleasure of the CD on the healthy skepticism of each. Since Howard's coming talent for design themes for its best development in "Atlantis".
Conclusion: The work of James Newton Howard to "Atlantis: The Lost Empire" is, of course, far from being a milestone in film music, but to stay with that image, makes a small step to the fun. It's an exciting routine work that has much of the fascination of "Dinosaur", but not clones is. So access, your smile will not regret it.
