At first I had a crush on the Lenovo IdeaPad S205 and had it between the older E-350 AMD. I was down to a little thing really happy with it. Lenovo has the problem that the fan runs very irregularly, causing an annoying whistling. I'm sensitive, for that matter. I have then returned and my S205 with the E-450 AMD here at Amazon preorder (320 GB, 2GB RAM without BS) reportedly other fans), which should then be sent 6 January 2012, but with a mail ended in the Sunday night, where Amazon informing me that it was not available. The same again on January 15 !!! Amazon has been working here very sloppy !!!
So I borrowed the DM1 in NB-cheaper (no idea why Amazon in the device inventory has' in NB-cheaper can not you read a lot of reviews) ordered and am very very happy with it. Similarly, with the passage in NB-cheaper.
Fan: HAMMER! With the energy-saving mode of Win7 (I have Win7 Prof 64-bit up-played) is not on the fan. The passive cooling system is super! At full power, it turns on 'but not' disturbing '(me personally makes the blow anything) because the fan is not blowing. The temperature never exceeded 78 degrees. When not gamble and the HD movie also not.
Processing: HP-typically very good and very classy
The case is up to the inside of the display no paint, but relatively dull. But still you can see fingerprints. Mir is per se not care, but I have to admit that the S205 has the edge here. The weight is higher than the S205 but if I now is 1.6 or 2 kg Carrying me identical. The processing of the display to the rest of the equipment is high quality at HP and I would suspect that the lid on the HP sits longer fixed. In addition, you can tilt it 180 degrees to the rear. When S205 is much more final.
Slots: Everything there and well laid out. The Kensington slot is a little unhappy place because the AC adapter is pretty close to it for charging. But it still fits easily.
Performance: Yes what can I say. Very fast 'nothing (Office 2007, Browser,') hooked and the APU (CPU and GPU) makes their services very reliable. GTA San Andreas running at 80% Details. Vice City with full details. HD movies run smoothly. I recommend the included Cyberlink Power DVD!
Software: Well, HP-typical is the installed software. I have not even turned on the device, but now partly filled with a bootable USB stick Win7 Prof. and delete all partitions. HP claimed about 25 GB for the recovery. I think that's already a lot. But let everyone know myself. (That's how I did it at S205).
Keyboard. Very good. Here, the two devices do not take anything. Both have built top-notch keyboards. No yielding and great tactile feedback. But the HP is slightly wider, as the unit is slightly wider in itself. For me, not a disadvantage, because I have broad hands and am sometimes sliding down the S205 at the edge. When the HP touchpad is clearly forward. It is much larger and more comfortable to use. Multitouch have both, and I must say that the HP liquid goes out of hand.
Sound: HP has BeatsAudio with 'hmm aboard. Sooo great that is not also because the S205 also had ordinary speakers. The HP is slightly more fitted in my opinion, so they are louder overall (this may be due to BeatsAudio).
Display: Both gloss and shine both with good contrast and great colors. The viewing angle is the same for both.
Hard Drive: 500 GB. The disk rotates their rounds and you can hear that. I mean even a little louder than the S205 and it does not bother me. You can fit an SSD, if you like. In addition, 8 GB RAM are possible.
I think now I have to say everything a little and hope I could be a little help. I think I would have stayed at S205 (the E450), if Amazon would have to deliver (without an operating system, 2GB RAM, 320GB hard drive). Since this unfortunately was not the case I have looked around for alternatives and came across the HP DM1 and would rather pick up the HP again because I know that the fan is silent and does not whistle!
