I got myself the Tablet not on Amazon, but by a competitor, because I get it there 50. euro cheaper (but was only a short special offer). Essentially, I am also very pleased with the tablet (see also judgments of the other reviews).
The tablet is quite well made. For me, the high / low volume rocker still. The cover of the microSD slot is attached normally. The tablet really has a super bright and powerful display. The touch operation also works flawlessly. As operating system Windows is installed 8.1 and Office Home and Student 2013 full version. For those who do not want to give up Windows and Office programs on a tablet, the tablet is recommended in any case.
The combination of Windows 8.1 apps and the normal desktop interface works fine. I am firmly convinced that Microsoft is on the right path and the principle will prevail more and more. The apps run very smoothly and quickly start. Especially I noticed positively that update the apps silently in the background. This bothers me currently very in Android. Here is constantly updated something.
I am also very pleased with how well run the apps. The biggest shortcoming is of course the very small number of apps (compared to Android and Apple). But first, I think Microsoft is catching up very fast here and secondly, I do not need 1 million apps. The main ones are available and surf through the possibility of Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer, on the Internet, I am completely satisfied. I can not say anything, for me there was no problem about the problem with the Windows updates. The battery also gave me 6-7 hours.
So Pro:
Quick, with the new quad-core processor also very light Table
Good, fairly sharp screen
Bluetooth works very well (I run a mouse over it)
bit pre-installed software
All run regular Windows programs and can be installed
CONTRA:
Low disk space (for me are still free 5GB)
The biggest drawback in my opinion is that over the microUSB 2.0 port (other than described here on Amazon page) no external devices are detected. I've tried everything, it's more, it is also not provided. This one has me at least the technical support from Lenovo as confirmed. The microUSB 2.0 port is only for charging the tablet there, but not to connect other devices. It neither external drives, mice, hard drives nor computers or netbooks are detected. If that is important has to grab another device (such as the Acer Iconia W3-810 detects external devices easily).
As alternative one can use a memory card that is set up on a PC, a home network, or (as I do) run over his wireless router an external hard drive, on the then documents or programs here can be slid back and forth. As I said, there are several ways to work around the problem.
That's why I wrote this review. Thus each, which this function is important, knows about it, that it is not possible with the Lenovo IdeaPad MIIX2-8 to connect external devices. Otherwise, I am using the tablet so far very satisfied and would highly recommend it.
Because of the problem with the microUSB 2.0 port, I have a point deducted.
Supplement 12.18.2013
So, after several contacts with other colleagues who have the Lenovo tablet, the problem is probably due to my adapter. He is probably faulty. Have I therefore bought a new one. If the arrives at me and everything works, I will post it here this.
Supplement 26.12.2013
So, now my microUSB adapter has arrived. Now recognizes the tablet and all external devices such as USB flash drive, etc. This
I can safely recommend the tablet now. I would give it 5 stars now.
