Preface:
Priced at 650 for that huge 55 "TV I expected a solid but of course not perfect performance.
However, one must say that LG has set the recommended retail Preisemfpehlung at over 1000.
I use a LG 23 "IPS monitor on a PC with which I am very satisfied.
I was looking for a TV with "Direct LED" technology because it (actually) is the higher quality technology in the TV area. According to LG Homepage this has the 55LB620V Direct-LED = LED lamps sit directly behind the panel and not sideways.
IPS panels like me because of the good viewing angle.
1. Unpacking:
Very incomprehensible pictograms on the package for building (at 55 "should already be very careful to avoid a screen damage).
2. Installation of the feet:
Easy
Attach per foot two screws and that's it.
3. First impression:
Very Complicated DVB-S2 channel sorting. You can delete channels found NOT!
Several stations can not be moved at the same time.
One trick: enable the hidden hotel mode and export the station list on a USB stick. You can then use the edit by "ChanSort" on PC. Hold "SETTINGS" button for several seconds until the top a smaller window appears.
Immediately afterwards, press on the remote "1105 and OK".
Then the first TV programs durchgezappt:
Super beautiful colors, great sharpness, even at SD channels.
Switching from one station to slow.
4. On closer inspection / calibration image:
My Microsoft Surface Pro connected via HDMI.
The EIZO monitor test (this program includes various test images) started.
The panel is illuminated miserable ungleichmäßg. In all four corners it is very dark.
And that, unfortunately, over a very large area.
Contrast is lit room really good once it gets dark, the black turns into gray.
Otherwise, the colors and sharpness are excellent.
Second test:
FullHD BluRay "Pacific Rim" started.
Now joins the aforementioned bad panel illumination still strong clouding in dark scenes it.
Banding is very low to non-existent (Banding = if for example the gradient is not properly).
Third Test:
FullHD BluRay "Earth"
Especially to see the scenes in the Arctic or in blue sky: "Dirty Screen Effect"
One has the feeling that the TV has a dirty disc.
Conclusion:
Positives:
- Class Colours
- Class sharpness
- Hardly or no banding
- Good DVB-S2 tuner with top upscaling of SD channels (but bit slow)
Negatives:
- Insufficient panel illumination
- Strong Clouding
- Dirty Screen Effect
- Sorting channels
The TV goes back unfortunately. Watch movies and TV makes no fun!
