Stripped (Audio CD)

Customer Review

"... Just a minute, though!" Jaggers humorous announcement after Dead Flowers illustrates very well the humorous and relaxed playfulness that radiates the album. You can tell the Stones, how much fun they had during the recording; snafus as Keith initiation of Love in Vain, he amused and Ronnie splendidly and leave them in there, and Ronnie schraddelt unconcerned with his slide guitar every now and then a hair's breadth on the search for the right collar on that very past.

Most called it then "Unplugged", Page & Plant "Unledded" with Joe Cocker it said "Organic", and of course "Stripped", ie "slimmed down, purifies" with the Stones in about, but also "defoliated" depending on your view. Full "unplugged" it was not, ultimately remained in some songs the guitars plugged, and that was a good thing. Interestingly, the Stones have chosen almost exclusively songs from 1964-1973; the exception is the final version of Slipping Away, which could me different from the '89er Studio version convince, only.

"Stripped" (59:42), originated in the "Voodoo Lounge" tour '94 / '95, is today most original tour souvenirs of the Rolling Stones. Why, however, always operates under "live CD" I can not quite understand; It may well be that the songs mostly got along without overdubs, but appear in public only me Street Fighting Man, to have been Like a Rolling Stone, Shine a Light, Dead Flowers and Angie recorded, the remaining nine songs are studio recordings.

But no matter, the concept is one, and that endures: the acoustic guitar, the Street Fighting Man driving, the band, the Range Hens way approaches back to the '68s Studio Shot. Not fade away was the opener of this tour, Angie was played shortened by one minute, what you did well, Shine a Light was more compact than the studio version, and songs like Dead Flowers, Sweet Virginia or let it bleed flocculated cheerfully to himself (though the latter has lost some of the original gloom). From the somewhat clumsy Beat Band number I'm free to make the Stones thirty years later a small but shimmering jewel, and from the Satisfaction-UK-B-side The Spider and the Fly flash Jaggers humor when he held the original line "She was comin 'flirty, she Looked about thirty" (that was for the twentysomethings at that time apparently creepy old!) ironically sings that she is now fifty. Although the Blues Little Baby premiere at a Stones CD, he has been a final number maybe not the happiest choice.

Two songs were the very obvious single compilations taken: Bob Dylan like Like a Rolling Stone have written either for or about the Stones, but I had to smile when she played it on 19.8.'95 at the Hockenheim Ring! (The card still cost 65 DM, mind you.) Wild Horses, since 1971 one of the most haunting ballads in their repertoire, achieved through the slightly streamlined reinterpretation even slightly more old wise intensity; it is one of Charlie's favorite recordings.

On the CD singles Like a Rolling Stone, Wild Horses and I go wild were still horny versions of Live with me and Tumbling Dice (both appeared "Rarities: 1971-2003" again), All Down The Line, Black sedan, I go wild and my favorite live version of Gimme Shelter, on the "Hope Floats" soundtrack gave it still Honest I do, all also cautious of this tour and effortlessly the "Stripped" level.

When Remaster 2009, I can say the best will not sound editing or even improvement, which was not needed at the fantastic sound of the original. So if his original CD has, she does not need to dispose of and can continue to enjoy the CD-ROM portion, which is no longer included in the new edition.
