The initial set-up, incl. Creation of bicycle and activity profiles went to require, in my view quite intuitive and without a glance at the manual. It has a GPS signal is found even in the apartment! Also on the way from the basement up the stairs, the signal is already at most, before the door opens. This is really cool on the device, but this is in my view also almost the only point that really convinced.
Well, the altitude and the driven altitude also agree almost with the Sigma, said Sigma usually has a bit more in the driven, but that he has always done well in comparison with the VDO MC1.0 who barom in things. Altimetry probably should be extremely precise.

I have now made 3 tests, each about 33km each way and thereby parallel my Sigma BC make 2209 run with, which is set to the exact tire circumference and from which I get plausible height values ​​and above all temperature values ​​that correspond with other thermometers. Additionally, I have mitgeloggt the routes with a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 and the RunGPS app, as I always do otherwise.

It fell to me a lot of negative aspects that make me doubt on the unit greatly:

- The display reflects and is often very difficult to read, whether sun or under trees, whether clear skies or cloudy.
- On the 3 test tracks the difference speedometer / Garmin was every time a little over 800 meters. Even after controlling a measuring tolerance the tire circumference and again recalculate with wheel revolutions remain about 400-500m, the fewer records the GPS. That is about 1.2-1.5%, which adds up neatly in the course of a year, if you like me much drives (9.000-11.000km / year).
- The speed display is very flighty without sensor when 3 leaves restrict the view of the sky completely unusable (some 4-5 km / h less than the speedometer indicates). The sensor I did not try, so I can give the device without traces back if necessary. According to various reports, opinions are divided, so that me it is not clear whether the now has any function or not. Some people argue, would only transmit the data speed if absolutely no input GPS signal. That would be worth some killer minus, if so. But I have no desire for 3 wheels yet again to buy additional sensors, which are also quite expensive, like Garmin's entire accessories.
- An absolute joke, the temperature display. The permanent is almost 2 ° C below that of the Sigma BC 2209, but with good thermometers indicating the temperature at several exate matching. Therefore, the values ​​that are displayed in the Connect agree not. Today there was: Min 5 ° C, max. 15 ° C, average 7.6 ° C. The device showed throughout the journey of less than 5 ° C and Sigma was fairly constant at 9-10 ° C.
- Tried reproduce long a distance with Open MTB Map, which was the day before also recorded with the Garmin. Here, the turn by turn sometimes agree not (text says left or right, the arrow means the opposite), with the arrow so far was the right display. Here offer apps like RunGPS even in foreign Tracks reliable voice announcement as a AutoNavi.
- Despite activate routing, or on demand, the unit was trying to let me take a shorter route once. If I want to retrace a track, then especially when I set this without routing. - Since the firmware update to 2.7 I have two different ads in the battery system and the driving profile. The units were by einandern after the update and have been partly shown in entlischen, partly in metric dimensions.

All in all, compared to the yet very exact values ​​of 100 Euro speedometers, the measurements of Garmin are quite modest, especially in regard to price.
Even the Galaxy Ace 2 is of the Dist values ​​always exactly between Sigma and Edge and thus even (to the small change in the measurement adjusted the tire circumference) almost right. So for about 400 euros here you get a device in which one must make in terms of data many compromises if you have a soft spot for it. If you want to descendants only tracks (and 100%), it is also tricky and not readily possible.
It may be that not interfere with the "wrong" values ​​if you continually not the comparison in the form of a precise instrument on the handlebar and for that you need to give any thought to extent differences in change of tires, air pressure or the wheel.

The touch screen responds well, but not overly sensitive, but should be protected with foil, otherwise scratched certainly fast. So other additional costs and the silicone sleeve does not hurt certainly. Cheaper and more precisely is definitely every 10 Euro speedometer when he gets set the correct tire size and to navigate (especially pure descendants tracks) there are certainly alternatives. So I'm still torn as to whether I will continue my Antu.
So sometimes just loading GPSies or Bikemap.net 'ne route and simply descendants is not in any case, at least not if you want to turn by turn informed.

Oh yes, the sounds are not the way to adjust the volume. Once a few cars are close, no longer hear the beep, which can then lead to a missed turn-off prompt.

Conclusion: Expensive toy with massive weaknesses that are hushed up but of the entire test in the media.

PS: If I now the positive and the negative aspects look at me so after writing the text, there is really only one solution to the problem: Back to the device and even more years to wait for Garmin or the competition it creates finally, what to produce acceptable.

Addendum: As I read today, the temperature problem was its predecessor, the 800, after which allow various postings close of 2011 etc.
So instead of placing the temperature sensor otherwise, is made fun with the error further. With Navi and full display brightness difference falls lower.

Nice to see that Garmin is so reliable in terms of failure rate, so I do not need to test further.
Today's round of testing was easy times while jogging (total test Nos. 4, according to total just under 100km bike). Approximately 300m on the doorstep the Garmin went for no reason completely. The answer is a separately purchased Silicone Case for just under 10 euros, so it's actually better.

One thinks, now that's enough? Far from it: this device also hangs like to go unnoticed during the rides easily on and then no response any longer, except for the long hold the Power button. The file on Connect shows the entire route on without interruption, but lack the time and the distance covered in total. I have not tried it yet, if it is different with the sensor, but actually the Edge should displace all the sensors of the bikes.

If the unit runs for times, it makes sometimes even joy also to times descendants tours easily, especially since I have found settings where the tracks are definitely calculated not new. Garmin does not mean in any setting that for which you have named them, or easily understood something else underneath.

I drive almost every day and in almost any weather and because the numerous defects of the unit make sure much more frequent and noticeable than in people who use it far less frequently. This starts with the occasional "Freezes" and goes beyond the Bluetooth connection problems to the incorrect functioning measurement when the device is "too slow". That too will hardly notice someone who is so mainly go in flat terrain.
Sure you can disable auto stop also. Then the stopwatch is running but also on every traffic light, at every break etc. and further the data displayed during the tour such as average speed then based on the value and not at the time it was actually moving.
