The delivery was made by Amazon, this time with Hermes, which at first annoyed me, because of my previous bad experiences with Hermes by getting to long delivery times. But I was not this time entttäuscht, the scale has been delivered to me one business day after delivery through Amazon.

The scale is heavier than expected and looks in combination with the large blue light LED display very chic. The batteries (here without specifying the durability) are easily hidden in a small Ausparung of Styrofoam and I have this replaced immediately after initial tests by 4 Eneloops.

On the homepage of ADE Germany is marked with 01/2011: "Analysis of body fat, body water and muscle mass to 0.1 percent accurate". This is a mistake, because it measures, and does not calculate the muscle mass. The product description on Amazon, however, is correct.

How many scales of this type, which can be seen also the user guide, the scale must be set to a fixed, level surface such as tiles, flooring, ect. are provided. On carpets, even tougher and thin carpets, completely false or inaccurate highest values ​​are measured. In another review of another scale, I could read a valuable hint that you in rooms with only carpets a sufficiently large, resistant to bending / thick board from the hardware store can get a surface to use the scales. That seems to be enough, my direct comparison measurements on a cheap Kunstoffboden found no significant deviations of more than 0.2 kg, which may be justified in the context of the measurement uncertainty of the scale, if necessary.

The balance is switched on by a (stronger) tapping with his foot, calibrated short and the measurement process can begin. They will turn off after the end of the measurement after about 10-15s, at the latest after 20 seconds of inactivity itself off, even with constant load. A brim-filled with water 1.5l PET bottle is determined at each point of the scale, weighing 1.4 to 1.5 kg.

The me (60kg class) of the balance values ​​obtained vary with repeated measurements up (rarely) 0.4kg. Typically, the results remain in the range of 0.1 to 0.3 kg. It seems to me that the foot position could be a factor for these discrepancies, if necessary, I unfortunately could not always reproduce, even with a foot position offset by 90 °. Coincidence "whims" / inaccuracies of the balance or a problem with the underground? With always consistent foot position to measure the range varies with repeated measurements rather from 0.1 to 0.2kg, but it is possible not always.

To "measure" and calculation of body fat and body water once have their own values ​​of the age, sex, body size and a value of the physical activity of 1 ("no sports") to 5 ("Professional") per memory location entered in the balance will. Activating the measurement is carried out after switching on by pressing the arrow keys to select the memory location (max. 12) on the front side of the balance. I imagine something cumbersome when physically severely restricted people (eg back problems) before, because only recently as an extended measurement you must press the scales always down.

One should be aware also that the determination of body fat in this balance in my opinion and knowledge really just a nice "feature" is, as a result of the measurement technology really no reliable values ​​are to be expected. The scale determines basically the body fat percentage only hüftabwärts by measuring the complex impedance from foot to foot. The fat above the hips can therefore be considered only in the context of statistics and entered into the scale of human underlyings. Interestingly is more likely a direct comparison of measurements over a larger interval to be in always consistent measurement conditions such as measurement always morning after getting up at the same time.

I give because of the prerequisite for drawing up the balance (underground) and the smaller variations in repeated measurements and the ease of use compared to similar scales therefore "only" 4 stars. In relation of the price paid by me for this price scale should now not be regarded as a really relevant drawback, but it's just always something better and more comfortable.

After 1 1/2 months the scale LO indicated the batteries are empty, according to instructions, a predominance was no longer possible. The balance is no longer intervened. The originally supplied with the scale batteries that I briefly used only at the beginning, I started again and the scale working again, that is a defect of the scale can be ruled out.

As written above, I use 4 Enelopps for the balance. These were "formatted" by me prior to first use for use in the balance, that is several times fully charged and discharged again. Here I used a Capacity Tester of ELV and convinced me of compliance with the individual nominal capacity even at high discharge currents.

Initially I had the balance quite often in use, also due to the many tests later in only one or two times a day. But puzzled by the fast "sucking" I took the 4 Eneloops (AAA cells with 800 mAh) out and measure with a very good multimeter the open circuit voltage. All 4 batteries still showed quite a high open circuit voltage of each mind. 1.3V.
I now have all 4 batteries with a very high discharge current of 900mA discharged separately in Capacity Tester. From each of these 4 batteries I could well pull 650mAH. These are more than 80% of rated capacity! If the discharge was lower, even more would have been discharged. In other words, the batteries were still fully.

It looks good like this, under the premise that in my scale no misalignment is present, that the balance is no longer want to work with betreits slightly lower individual voltages of the inserted cells. In my case, I'm afraid at cumulatively so that in many cases unnecessary batteries are disposed of after use reason in this scale, despite still sufficient residual capacity. That would be thus an ecological Sauerrei :-(

Perhaps a reader could here his supposedly dead batteries somewhere further use after use in this scale and report the more durability, or even measure the Restkapazizäten. The Ergenis would be very interesting.
