Had the adapter only once to secure in use! 3.5 inch and 2.5-inch hard drives easily recognized under Win7. Even on Linux without difficulty recognized. For read speeds, I would not want to say anything because I have not tested it! The LEDs for power and HDD activity are more than clear to see!
