The texts are managed by the Bank, the sound of the record is round, warm and powerful, and you can feel again the old music of Spliff-hours.
You put the disc into the player and hear immediately spellbound! Instead Dylan Blues Genöle and even played Gitarrengeschrammel (as on so many album of 90) Piano, Keyboards and electronics dominate. The guitar work he leaves fortunately Jörg Dudys, the saxophone plays Felix Betancourt.
Playing tips:
1. SHIPS: Not a bad start for the plate. That's a nice atmospheric and simultaneously groovy number. In the text, it's off to Herwig's own words, a "state description of the world of the 21st century / globalization". Really cool is it in the second part, when the guitars of Jörg Dudys crash and Herwig to swinging away at his drums!
2. Take your NIX TELL MAN: Highlight No.1! This is one of several songs skeptical about Herwig's world and self view as an artist. You hear the number of times with the headphones on - awesome thing Herwig departs here for sounds! Already a classic and the ideal candidate for the next single!
3. Small CAMPEON: Next highlight! The song stands for "You and I" from 1983 (on "No guts no girl"), which he wrote for his (now adult) daughter Dinah, in nothing. The text, the melody, the warm keyboard sounds immediately cause goose bumps! The extremely dynamic Arrangement - of full orchestration to simple piano arrangement in two clocks! - Is great! Here Herwig puts his father feelings towards his young son very much open.
4. Glückskind: A real goose bumps number! Already with the first piano chords you know where to go emotionally: Glückskind? This is of course ironic. Again discussed Herwig (as with "Rudi" of "No guts no girl") the agonizing self-doubt a "Stars". The song is a Herwigs skeptical look on his stage career. Great as his manic pounding drum solo support the message of the song.
5. SAILING IN THE RAIN: Another highlight with goose bumps guaranteed! A dream song. Here Herwig has produced with minimal means maximum effect. Herwig goes Portishead. Three minutes of pure musical magic!
All other songs are in accordance with the above in hardly anything. The new version of the old classic Spliff "Glass Palace" joins seamlessly into the overall context of the album.
For me "Insolito" next to "No guts no girl" Herwig's best album!
