When investigating before buying anything, then we learn that the NC headphones (Bose as others) noise-like sounds are (as just aircraft turbines) to filter particularly good and less good to filter votes. Voices are indeed quieter, and sound as if you have runtergeregelt with an equalizer bass, but they can still hear. Those who expect absolute silence in the open-plan office, will be disappointed.
I tested the headphones with my vacuum cleaner and on a A-320 (row 5, before the turbine). On the plane I was thrilled: it was almost as if we were off the plane - I'd say at least 90% are gone.
When vacuum cleaner was still a noise heard, the WOW effect but turned on after I took off the headphones again after 10 minutes - the difference was huge.
You can also use the headphones without cable (only NC). If you want to listen to music, you have to turn it on without battery goes nothing.
Two cables are included (Apple (remote control) and others) and an audio adapter for aircraft. Headphones come in a sturdy box, build quality is good.
Sound:
There are certainly better, but for movies / video / music in a loud airplane he is impeccable. Those who want high-end, needs no NC headphones.
For me a buy recommendation, it did not looked back (despite the steep price).
UPDATE DEC 2013:
Long-haul flight Vienna-> London-> Miami> Cancun and back. Sat behind the nozzles. Still, the first battery.
For sound: definitely not as good as high-end, but good enough for video or music and given the noise in the aircraft is not the decisive criterion.
Still clear Kaufempfehung.
