Canon innovates in its PowerShot G series with the G1X large sensor.
Serte it is not more reactive (in order to improve responsiveness, exit the "auto" and switch to "P" mode, for example) and large sensor requires a distance of 20cm development of mini (mode macro, otherwise it's 40cm).
In RAW mode is better a fast memory card (Class 6 mini) because the time between two images are substantially extension in this mode (> 3s).
The picture quality is simply bluffing! Even at ISO 3200 or ISO 6400 noise is masterfully managed!
We find a comparable depth of field to a DSLR.
Yes, the zoom is "only" 4x, 5x would have been technically possible, but the case was thicker ... (Already it is not really "slim" ...) It is an intentional choice Canon 4x ... But it is already good.
Swivel screen is very good and the interface is very good ...
This is not a device for those who do not seriously sintéresse to the photo. Even if the "Auto" mode is very good (but blocked at max ISO 1600).
Interesting: It can take pictures in format 10x15 ratio as a reflex (but losing approx 1M pixel in the process.).
In short to get the best, you have to dive in and out of the fully automatic mode, but if you buy it is that you're one of the serious photographer ...;).
Note: Me, I have not bought specifically to film, but it manages to 1080p (only) 24 im / s, the zoom can be used while taking video, stereo sound.
The pros:
Image quality at the top and comparable to an SLR
Manufacturing quality / strength
Compatible with Canon flashes
iso 3200 really usable without noise, iso 6400 noisy but usable
Swivel Screen
Good grip (better than G12)
Very silent trigger
setting options / settings
The -:
A little soft responsiveness baths (but this is not an either turtle) especially raw
Manual flash (some novice users risk being destabilized)
No full record on paper (250 pages to print Canon ... thank you!)
The very narrow viewfinder (but at least there is one ...)
Limited autonomy approx. 250 triggers (providing a second battery is not a luxury)
No HDMI cable
Light aid to the highly visible map (but detachable)
