Imaginaerum -The Score: passing shot on goal

This rhythm builds to the first for me really big highlight of the album.

"Sundown" starts melodically-spherical, led by wave and we know we have the Gegenstüch to "Turn Loose Mermaids", as we quickly recognize from the flute, and almost could Arnette Olsen (yes I grieve her to) sing here hear, but this is done here the guitar, fits and touching. Not least because it was one of my favorites on the album "Imaginaerum", I was expecting this piece with joy. We know this piece already from the previous album in multiple sets, and we made it clear that this track is here, what Nightwish with "Rest Calm" always was getting at. It is not hard to accept that, because it is wonderful!

Hey Buddy is calm and spherical continued, however this remains mostly monotonous and makes the euphoria of the previous track miss much, but you can see them from time, it is a breath after all the creeps.

"Deeper Down" starts with velvet melancholic piano and guitar sounds. And so we get to hear the first real song, namely by Arnette Olsen. Indeed! We get to hear a whole song hidden, uncharacteristically quiet of Nightwish, but can be expected as ds oeuvre northwest se, very beautiful. Unfortunately, the piece is too short.

Then we are torn with a dull drumbeat and back out in a confused, even soporific world of sound, which swells and seems to call from a dream a supposedly threatening nightmare. Finally, we find ourselves in a large hall again. "I have to let you go" is the name of the track. All right. He begins oppressive and continues what we have learned in the predecessor. It sounds a little like a showdown. Finally, we are back where we were before, accompanied by silent chorus, fanfares and Chello game. And further swells the sound of the longest piece of "Imaginaerum" to, ebbs and leaves us with surreal sounds in the background, which accompany a lovely music box. This goes to piano sounds, before we now probably come to the grand finale, which even accompany electric guitar sounds, yes, it includes the power of "Last Ride of the Day!" Have you missed the bagpipes? The was been saving for last. But the joy lasted much too short.

The penultimate track of the album "Heart lying still" finally brings us back to the beginning, even wistful and. With enchanting, subtly magical appearance of sounds It has elements to "Song of Myself" in the essence, but it stem not reproduce these heady magic flair, which was still so so much and inviting heard on the previous album. It sounds like a farewell, but somehow I have the constant feeling that I do not even know exactly what.

The final offers "From G to E Minor". And again we have this monotony ahead, led by well-known melodies that you got to hear, especially in the last album.

So what is now left of this experience. Well, I wish I could say something permanent. But somehow did not want to set the. Maybe I put too many expectations, perhaps it was the part of Nightwish also overambitious.

Do not get me wrong. It was a film soundtrack, and it was in essence also Nightwish, but all the heroic symphonic Prumk was somehow not there. It was magic, but not magic, it was pretty but not beautiful. Nightwish has thus provided its weakest work, but of course you can not forget what we have here before us, and that's nunmal no album.
