Whether the manufacturer complies with certain environmental standards in the production, I can not say. But the question I have been asked, as it is a cheap product from Asia and which are known to often problematic. But since it is metal, you can I guess unlike plastic products, where a lot of chemicals and oil is in use, do not really make much wrong.
