It is a very confusing book. The scandal of the publication, the personality of the author, the taste for provocation (sometimes a little easier), the research themes of fashion, are all aspects of the book that invite the reader to alert the reserve, even mistrust. From a formal point of view, the book is not without flaws, either; in particular, the long pseudo-scientific passages incomprehensible to most (uninitiated, it goes without saying) in lasseraient many. Yet almost inevitably, we cling, we won, not by intrigue (fairly thin), but this intimacy that installs with a wry narrator, often ironic and irresistibly funny. However, what is perhaps the paradox of this book is that, while it described a universe of darkness difficult to sustain the reader emerges as raised by the reflection offered to him by this creepy metaphysical which seems to sharpen its vision. From this point of view, hat, Houellebecq!
