The book offers this chronological development path and systematic insight into the structure and the individual areas of activity. The author speaks of Human Intelligence (intelligence with the help of employees, people), SIGINT (signals intelligence and analysis), IMINT (Picture / Satellite reconnaissance) and much more.
The emotion and motivation are not forgotten: He describes the appeal of Western values and freedom. The yes for many of us is self-evident, but this does not apply in all countries. One focus of the book is also the current fight against terrorism and the corresponding defense strategies gewidmet.Er shows the diffuse threat picture in Afghanistan due to the different actors.
This book would have received almost 5 star. In the end, there are only 4.49 stars because to me a chapter has not so much.
The author speaks of a digital terrain model and a fabulously quick integration into the IT platforms, would support the activities and the troops. This went on for me but a little too fast and smoothly. Or frankly: It estimates not the tens of dollars that taxpayers have pumped well in digital terrain models and IT infrastructure. Apart from this slight exaggeration or hyperbole but it is a really interesting book.
So if there is some point should be a second edition, then the author should edit as five to ten pages.
Anyone interested in politics, Western values and freedom, here is a very good book to read in English. It also makes it curious, to deal intensively with the current foreign policy.
