This new release "Boom" in 2014 does not show huge differences, but still some small +:
-more cute: his voice is a little more acute, and it behaves a little more lovely than before (to my taste and that of my children!). He expressions a bit more varied.
-new emotion: it can start crying when you pull its tail and behave so sad, something that does not do Furby 2013. For the rest, the possible emotions seem pretty much the same.
He communicates very well with another Furby Boom but also with the "old" Furby 2013; exchanges between Furbys are very cute!
Wholesale +: the new application for tablet and smartphone "Furby Boom" that allows her to play with Furby (the app detects the plush) and make him lay eggs.
This app is much more complete and fun as the old app "Furby" (which works with Furby last year).
Children already well appreciated this old app, which allowed them to translate the Furby language in French, to feed him, make him listen to music ...
With the new Furby Boom app they play much more: you can actually take care of her showering the furby, accompanying him to the toilet, feeding him, playing with him ... (he has " needs bars ")
As and when we win bonuses that are laying eggs (virtual, on the shelf!) To Furby, which released a cute baby Furby (which we must also deal).
The goal is to collect them all in the app, there are 48 I think.
The app is quite usable by my 5 year old son and a half but below 5 years it would be too complicated I think.
But children can also play with Furby without the app (and indeed, play with the app without having to Furby, but it is less funny).
Cons:
-I had a number of concerns Furby detection by the camera (especially with my smartphone Huawei, a little less with my tablet Samsung Galaxy Tab 2). So sometimes the Furby is "disconnected" and you have to re-scan.
This can take time at times, one has to try several times (source of frustration for children when they are in full play ...)
-l'appli offers purchases "in app", remember to disable this feature before leaving the tablet to your children ...
-no batteries included, and it takes 4 AA to operate the Furby, but it was already the case with the 2013 release.
In short, I recommend for children 5 years (minimum) and whose parents have a smartphone or a tablet (and are not afraid to leave them in the hands of their children) .This color striped pink and black will appeal probably more girls, small but larger.
