Caveat: It is indeed my first light alarm clock, but I played a long time with the idea to bring me one. But the one confused by so many negative evaluation and quenched to another due to the high price in the necessary "power", I hesitated in both previous models from Philips, as well as with other manufacturers over again.

This device on the one hand, the return to self-replaceable halogen lamp and the other detailed improvements convinced me to try it.

First, the USB port was a reason to buy. And indeed, this is an enormous improvement. I found as an alarm tone, the (approx. 30 seconds loops After Tester information) also not really wake up "endless loop" of the predecessor little tingling and the optional radio reception good for, I can here now with no problems doing melodies / music on the stick and I then - although unfortunately only from a selectable - can awaken the title of my choice. Philips itself offers on its website a further 8 mp3 with each about 4 minutes length, which are significantly better than the endless loops. Start here, for example, forest sounds gently with occasional birdsong without "repetition" and the noise density decreases slowly and varied to. Similarly, in all available, free extensions on the Philips website.

I find these possibilities of individualization of the alarm clock with your own music anyway as big plus.

Secondly, you can also program last 3 radio stations and firmly set with which you want to be awakened. Now the Wurfantene is not the state of the art, but for me they done a decent service. Occasionally I switch to the morning after the alarm melody just on one of my favorite stations around if I still want to doze a little.

A further improvement is the now finally changeable time of sunrise. Previous models were fixed at 30 minutes. Now you can set the time here freely. I feel for me, however, 30 minutes and almost ideal. I am in this setting as about 2-3 minutes before the alarm melody using already almost awake. But the very possibility of change means that now can select any of his favorite setting itself.

And as the last new feature I look at the 2 different alarm times, zwichen which to choose quickly with the side lever (also serves as a switch). And secondly, you can snooze the now simply by touching the lamp activate. no more requests for a button.

There are ultimately only minor changes, but for me those were exactly the points that have prevented me from buying earlier.

Otherwise everything is as in the previous models. About the design can you argue about the pleasant light but not. The Speaker is not at excessive volume ok, but still room for improvement. He is a bit dull for my taste. But even so it is quite usable also for "quiet" music or listening to the radio.

Playback of MP3 on a stick works fine, although here the tracks are simply placed in the order of date when they were copied to the stick. One can only the title without "marking" choose (0001, 0002 ...). A random function does not exist. Nutz to him as a "player", the MP3 can be played simply by their order. For me, everything is more than adequate, the ultimate is the part of me waking up gently and not serve me as a replacement of a plant.

At Last but not least a "thumbs up" for the real intention of the alarm clock. It's simple - straight now that the morning hours are getting darker - a great wake. The start to the day is easier for me and the annoying beeping of my alarm clock old I want to have any more.

Oh .... I have no single noise perceived and the clock display disturbs me not even on the medium setting Helligeit - and I am a fanatic-dark sleeper.
