Customer Review

Relational life of a wealthy Jewish family in Europe in the first half of the twentieth century. From a collection of netsuke (very small Japanese sculptures often facetious) the author goes in search of the life of his ancestors. He shares their daily life, their passions while taking pleasure in discovering them himself, love them, we love doing. Awareness of art and renowned ceramist model it somehow his characters and draws a portrait of them living in connection with the culture of the moment. General cosmopolitanism invites us to come out of our shells and wandering in the wake of this endearing line, mostly between Paris, Vienna, London and Berlin but also to Tokyo. The book is more for an educated public but its pretty straightforward writing makes it accessible to who would like to deepen the data-oriented arts.
