I have already repeatedly used cedar planks (of Weber or Outdoor King) and know the taste of a nice salmon was grilled on cedar greatly appreciated. The boards supplied me here have, however, neither optical nor olfaktorisch to do with those who I already knew something. The grain is a very different, the wood is much lighter and the smell is rather chemically. (See picture: is linking the board offered here right of the boards I've ever used..)
Now it may be that there are different types of cedar - I'm not a carpenter - but if it does not smell of cedar meets it hardly its purpose.
