"In Square Circle" is truly track "Hotter Than July" published five years earlier. Stevie moves away more and more of its productions seventies to adapt a dance-pop style, genre very popular in the eighties. It is this 80's sound with his synths and rhythm boxes very trendy at that time that have baffled most fans still hoped that innovative and creative LP worthy of a "Talking Book" or "Innervisions" . Let no one be mistaken, "In Square Circle" is absolutely not the same caliber, not as innovative and creative but remains in my opinion one of the most underrated of all the career records the great Stevie. When it comes down to call Stevie Wonder, which may originally be disappointing from this great man, this remains in comparison with other artists r'nb or other modern productions hundred times see thousand times better ... When we spotted a "Part Time Lover", biggest hit of the album (with Luther Vandross on backing vocals please), it keeps the freshness and infectious beats that is hard to resist, another potential hit "Overjoyed" remains one the most beautiful compositions of the artist, a third single followed his two successes, it's "Go Home", wonder pop-funk that I get tired of listen 3 times a day. For the rest, it is a result of much more than respectable songs ("Spiritual Walkers" "Never In Your Sun", "The Land Of", "I Love You Too Much" ..) and "It's Wrong" became head of the Anti-Apartheid song. Ultimately "In Square Circle" remains an album worthy of melodic genius of the master, an album that smells like 80's, and always pleasant to listen to. Monitoring "Characters" (1987) will be of the same lineage.
