My Opinion:
One must have not read Volume 1, to read this novel and to like. For I myself was able to only roughly reminiscent of the plot of Austen country. Of course, I still knew the key data and that Shannon Hale is good for surprises.
And that was also in this novel way. Because you never knew exactly where you stood. Are things real or not? The story was great set up. Because first you think, that you will not be deceived. As a reader, you are sublime, and can see through the people. Well, think again. Again and again one is placed on the wrong track, and ultimately it is quite different than you think.
The things that happen there are by no means only small flirtations among the guests of Pembrook Park, there are a lot of tragic events. At one point I had to read it twice to assure myself that it was actually happening. This book I have thought a lot less crime. Sure, the cover and the title suggests a lot, but I was thinking more of a romantic book. Instead, it was an exciting thriller.
Romance of course there are. Three men there are to choose from. The Jane Austen fan I can imagine that the unhappy Charlotte will find her prince. But who is it? Here the author was not as adept as the detective story. From the beginning I had a good nose. But what does not bother, because even to see how to approach two is very nice. The one who has almost something of a "Austen Hero", where the last bit was missing.
Otherwise, my people were sympathetic. No great characters that a stay in the memory, but there were too many clichés. With Charlotte I had my problems at the beginning. She lets her two children with her ex-husband in the US and travels to England. What kind of a mother? You can not leave their children with the husband and a new wife and then leave the continent? But the children played a minimal role in the small history, I forgot the aspect quite fast and in the end, the author has once again get the curve.
The ending is quite to my taste! Very nice! To the last detail, the author has thought of everything. The heart leaps for joy and my nerves calm down and slowly back;)
Conclusion:
A Real-Life-RPG that combines romance and excitement, not just what fans of Jane Austen.
