Narrow Stairs (Audio CD)

Customer Review

... At a high level. This includes the 2008 album -Narrow Stairs- of Death Cab for Cutie. His time taken up by the inveterate Death Cab fan base with mixed feelings, the album features a few years later that it had quite pioneering character. The mixture of pop and indie rock elements in 2008 was still dared today they heard almost de rigueur of small but important bands. It is especially Ben Gibbards voice that lets Death Cab for Cutie songs appear so unique. At second glance (or rather: At the second hearing), but you can see how well arranged and orchestrated the pieces are. No song on -Narrow Stairs- sounds like the other ...

With -Bixby Canyon Brigde- the album starts in the same kind of music, which seems to be covered by spheres sounds to hard rock all. -I Want poss esses your heart- is then already a very different caliber. A hypnotizing bass ala "Zero 7" invites a right to discover the world of this 8:25 minute song. During this time, there are acoustic worlds marvel, ranging in bandwidth from the Pet Shop Boys to the Talking Heads. By contrast -No Sunlight- acts like a pop song trällender. -You Can do better to me- is great cinema for the ears. The song could be right out of the 80s and would do honor to any entertainer. Grapevine Fires "tastes" a little to Ben Folds. Playful comes -Your New twinsize bed-. With influences of Indian music impresses -Pity and Fear-. My favorite song on -Narrow and Stairs- is -The Ice is getting thinner-. A warm guitar to a flattering melody; is all you need for a good song.

Death Cab for Cutie has shown in the years that followed, they can. -Narrow Stairs- was an important step to develop the US band from Bellingham. The 11 songs on the album in 2008 were worth listening to and it today still. Have lots of fun with it!
