The camera makes a high quality impression - both from the housing and the wiring ago. Only the really primitive and "windy" mounting foot may not quite fit at the moment. But well, for easy mounting in a protected area it may well suffice. Incidentally, it is in the screw on the camera to a standard thread size; So you could also resort to alternative mounts, or even a mobile tripod.
The initial setup is described in my opinion, exemplary in German in paper form, so it should also be possible for the layman to take the camera. Nevertheless, some basic knowledge on network technology is certainly helpful. Who has absolutely no idea should perhaps consult a knowledgeable friend, etc., then the start-up should not be a problem. This is however ultimately any installation of this kind and is not related to this product alone. I actually had to pre-wired installation, but the wireless Verbingung worked so amazingly well and fast that I saw no reason for this. Of course, this is highly dependent on how far the camera is from the wireless router.
To access the camera via the Internet with a memorable address, I got myself a free address at DynDNS.org and applied through my router; the device in the camera was not a problem. It is important that the port you leaving on the default value of 80, because otherwise you would have to specify that in addition to the address (eg meinewebcam.net:1234 - with Port 80 only: meinewebcam.net). In order the camera to present the public safe, of course must be at least 1 "Visitor" with name and password created (eg host + guest). This user has then only have access to the live stream; the more visible the other menu points can not be viewed and changed by someone else. A public access without entering a name and password is not possible.
Now, if the installation completes successfully, it's go try it out. So Internet address in the browser, and lo and behold: it opens a window where you can choose virtually the browser used (IE, Firefox, etc.) or access via smartphone ("Sign In"). All users of Microsoft's Internet Explorer is said that one has to adapt BEFORE the security settings in the options: "Download unsigned ActiveX controls" must be set to "Enable" or better "Confirm", otherwise nothing works! But then opens the web interface instar with the live stream from the camera (after entering name and password - see above).
The picture quality is definitely better than expected, only the color intensity might turn out a little more. Sharpness and detail are but consistently acceptable and can not be criticized for a camera in this price range. The lens can probably own readjustment, was with me but not necessary. To perform this, one would have to remove etc. the weatherproof cover; I did not try this. The images are transferred surprisingly well even through the wireless operation so you can also detect passing vehicles almost smooth. The saving of images with motion detection etc. (ie monitoring function) is incidentally also possible, but I have not tried. Also on the night vision option at short distances, I can not say anything, because with me the camera is directed at the panoramic landscape; because it is at night just dark ;-) Nevertheless even at night illuminated objects are fairly easy to recognize - again a positive surprise.
Remains kudos to the Support to mention: this answer even on Sunday sent an email question late one evening knowledgeable and friendly with delivering the latest firmware (this can not be easily downloaded from the server) - which is really an extra remark worth :
***** SUPER *****
Conclusion:
With this camera, you can not really go wrong. Good quality, easy installation, excellent support and an unbeatable price make this part of a real insider tip. If you want in terms of image quality, resolution and sharpness longer, must surely invest significantly more in a professional camera; for home use but extends what is offered all - my expectations were clearly exceeded !!!
