For years I have operated my twin receiver (Kathrein UFS 922) in the loop-through operation on a single cable. Connections on multiswitches there was still plentiful, but the laying of a second cable would have been connected to a totally unreasonable effort. Throughout the course, with the known troublesome restrictions, especially the very limited TV channels in current recordings. Then I read more here randomly from this unit and some research has shown that the receiver can control this system also should. So I dared and do not want to miss it. Hardware installation was expected to trivial, and the configuration of the system for Kathrein also relatively simple, not even a new tuning was needed. Now I can actually use fully and completely independent two channels in any combination of polarization and band. According to the manual it is this can even go for two satellite positions, however, we use only Astra. For receiver towards the router uses two fixed frequencies. The receiver controls by modulating the switching voltage which transponders are implemented on the two frequencies (the protocol is called EN 50494). For MultiSwitch towards it provides the usual switching signals or alternatively DiSEqC commands. Power is provided by the receiver, the router is apparently quite frugal. It also filed for a trial downstream amplifier, the TechniRouter already slightly raises the level, so the amplifier was not necessary.
The only complaint I would have liked an option for wall mounting me. At the moment, the router simply hangs in my cable, but is also so small and light that it's no problem. Had the Multiswitch Technisat, you would also be able to connect the two F-connector / F-connector directly with two adapters, at the pitch of our ports is unfortunately different.
All in all, for me an absolutely ingenious device. No comparison with Stacker / Destacker or old single-cable solutions with severe transponder selection. Two cables are certainly better and cheaper, but who can not be realized, will find an adequate substitute.
