Their Greatest Hits (Audio CD)

Customer Review

The Carpenters have in Europe never achieved the fame that they deserve. Nevertheless, they created some of the most beautiful songs of the seventies, most important of which are included in this collection.
The Carpenters, the siblings, Richard Carpenter, the brother with the 3000 plates in the cupboard, the creative head of the band, Karen Carpenter, the nurse with the gentle but firm voice, which also sat on the drums. Plus the lyricist John Bettis.
Early seventies produced the Carpenters Hits churning out: "Top of the World", "Superstar", "Yesterday Once More". By Bank strong songs that are hanging and remained stuck in the ears. For me the most authentic pop sound of the 70 next to Elton John's album "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road".
In addition to the three mentioned songs impress "Goodbye My Love", where Richard Carpenter disproved by the ingenious nachgeschobene Gittarensolo and the cover version "Ticket To Ride" (Lennon / McCartney) even the masters.
Fair to say that the 20 song strong collection in the second half degrades because the super material is placed within the first 7, 8 songs. Even a picture of Carpenterschen career in the late seventies brought only average.
Karen Carpenter died in 1983 from the effects of bulemischen disease.
