After a time-consuming and unsuccessful attempt to install in our home network an incredibly poorly documented wireless print servers LogiLink, I have decided the matter from the outset to make it less complicated and to dispense with the wireless connection. Just now, all devices that we want to share our network, together in a rack and connected by cable to the router.
Still, I was prepared for it, even with the installation of the relevant USB server to again have to invest hours of time. But to my pleasant surprise, I needed only to follow the enclosed instructions: plug it all, install and run (in my case with Vista Home Basic), the management program of the CD on the computer. Even the USB-Server has been recognized with the printer connected to it.
The CD also contains a special software for connecting printers. If this software does not support the existing printer, as in my case, that makes but for home use is no difference. One must then stop the printer only, like any other device, activate generally USB Server Management tool by clicking before it is available. (Meanwhile, it is anyone on the network is not available.)
I was finished with the installation in a quarter of an hour, and the access to the devices connected to the USB server is functioning properly.
PRODUCT DESIGN
The design has pleasantly surprised me. I see it as an advantage that this USB-Server is designed as a "tower" and therefore the shelf very little floor space needs - different from the usual, lying flat box. The silver bezel is solid metal, as the base, which gives the device by its own weight, a good stability. The processing makes a high quality impression.
The same applies to the associated management software. The interface is clean and nice to look at, with a clear labeling and contemporary icons. Only the German translation of the user interface is not managed and more confusing. Solution: Stay with the default English.
CONCLUSION
A recommendable device.
