Creative's well known in the PC sector for sound cards of all kinds for years.
Here I liked the unfussy technical construction and also the design right away.
The question was: If the Sound Blaster X-Fi also work with a Mac?
Driver for OSX because there are not, at least not by the manufacturer. Actually impossible, right?
Anyway: Encouraged Duch some diesbezgl. positive reviews - most of them from Amazon USA - who then tipped the balance for the purchase.
Was delivered very quickly - which had me very happy, because lately it worked no longer really with several shipments via DHL ...
Commissioning:
The X-Fi itself is self-explanatory easily set up and connected using the supplied USB cable in seconds.
And yes!
OS X, Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and both OSX Lion 10.7.4, recognizes the small box within a split second.
Anything goes, even the volume pot on the front controls on a display in the center of the screen immediately after plugging in the level.
Could not be better!
The same applies for all existing ports - just the so important for me Optical In / Out works impeccably.
In summary:
Plus
- For OS X (tested versions see above) are no additional drivers needed, the device works out-of-the-Box
- All inputs and outputs (including digital) do what they should do: functioning
- Volume pot goes well (if you need it)
- Nice addition as well as an RIAA equalizer (for direct connection of a turntable) including ground terminal
- Good sound
Minus
- Sought drilled and found nothing
Conclusion:
A good product, very good integration with Mac OSX 10.6.8 and 10.7.x
To use the PC running Microsoft or Linux can and I want to say anything that will make then prefer another: =)
