Martin is a German, Max is Jewish American. Both live in the United States, both are involved in selling paintings. But Martin returned to live in Germany and the two friends meet regularly. 1933 Hitler is the head of government. Martin is increasingly seduced by the personality of this charismatic character: it is the starting point of an inevitable rupture between these two friends who considered themselves brothers. Over the letters, each of the character is refined and affirmed. The two men will have to make choices and to take responsibility, serious consequences. The friendship will turn into hatred. Writing is sober, sobriety serving efficiency, moving and tragic story of a climate doubled on the bottom of misunderstanding, bitterness, pain, betrayal and revenge. The end is neat, but so unpredictable understandable.
