had prior to the device Samsung S8000 Jet, unfortunately I wanted to use it as sporadic Navi, which did not really went because I had no license for Route66. In addition to that Samsung used there "own" operating system, which does not really allow interference can subsequently. The market at Widget extensions is simply much smaller.
Then why I came up with the Samsung Galaxy 3 I5800.
The equipment can actually nothing to be desired: the N-Draft WLan bishin to Swype Write function
For this money there is actually - if at all - not many phones.
And a huge plus point: It is already used Android 2.1 (one probably is indeed soon as v2.2 update available)
Design & Form
The shape looks very classy and has modern lines are used. The dark plastic feels quite high and suggests a higher price.
The back plate is relatively easy from with some force. Very nice the microSD and SIM card slot has been resolved. No more "Reingepfriemel" or "fiddle"; no annoying battery removal: All easy to clean, click on the edge of the phone.
Handling / use
The surface is - as I said - the 2.1 of Android. Initially, a small change, but you get used to it very quickly and soon is everything to achieve intuitive. Very nice is that you have three "desktops" that can clutter up with Shortcuts. Clicking through the menus is very fast and suggests sufficient power.
Technology
As already mentioned, the Galaxy 3 I5800 actually comprises the technical features of its big brother Galaxy S, except that it has no AMORLED display.
That's why I would like to focus on this same (also due to recessions in front of me). I had the direct comparison with the Samsung S8000 Jet and you actually notice a difference. The colors are not quite as brilliant, the pixels do not disappear completely, as in the Jet and even FullHD Wallpaper shine not, as usual, with their details. Yet this display just fine and your own backgrounds act nice and have sufficient details on. Even surfing the Internet the difference is very small, since you and most zooms closer, so that the pixels are not really perceive. After almost a week use me the difference is no longer really does not stand out for me ... a point which is well able to absorb, but for everyone.
But there is enough of everything else, to build thriving heart. Draft-n WLAN enables superfast Internet via hotspots (supporting the router provided). HSDPA for fast internet on the go, blue tooth, GPS, ... and much more.
Little information besides: From the update to Android 2.2, you can use the phone as a hotspot for other devices (netbook, notebook, PC, mobile phone).
On the camera, I would like to address briefly, for two reasons: 1) I almost never 2) use I do not really need
For snapshots, and contact images not completely sufficient for more but. In addition, enough light should be present, because a flash one searches in vain.
Now for the touchpad: A difference of worlds compared to the S8000 Jet. A friend once said that he on a haptic (hope that's right ^^) after upgrading touchpad, this does not want to miss. Even the touchpad of the Jets (resistive) was very good, but nothing compared to the I5800. Reacts even to the slightest touch and absolutely striking lightly. Can multi-touch and lets the Swype Write aid only really flourish. Best Feature!
Finally, I would like to say something about the battery: you did not permanently everything running and you use such nice apps like Advanced Task Cleaner 2.0, the power consumption is reduced so that the phone really lasts a long time. Have the phone since almost 1 week and I it once the power, and indeed before I had turned on the first time! And as you can see on the test, I've already played around quite a bit.
Accessories
The accessories package pretty standard. Ear plugs (not tested), USB cable (for data transfer and charging via PC, charging cable and user manual (in DE and EN). I would have still wanted a CD with the tool Samsung Kies, unfortunately you have the extra on Samsung Download page. Otherwise everything is in perfect condition.
Once conclusively -----------
Positives:
- Connectivity & technical features (WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, HSDPA, Swype, etc.)
- Touchpad (extremely "sensitive", but in a positive sense)
- Battery life
- Voice Quality
- Receiving power
- Design
- Operation
- Operating system: Android 2.1
Negatives:
- Display resolution
- Programs run (no extra tutoring with Apps such as Advanced Task Cleaner 2.0) after one-time start always alongside continues
Useful camera for snapshots and Kontakbilder -
Conclusion
A super cell phone, which leaves very little to be desired and the whole of a (in my opinion) an unbeatable price.
For that there are 5 star and a strong buy recommendation from me.
