I currently use an Xperia Z1, to which the SmartWatch 2 is visually a good match. But now times forward front ..
Packaging and presentation:
The Sony SmartWatch is an a plastic box provided, which has drawn a deferred Pappcover. From the outside, a QR code is visible that the scan with one of the known scanning apps in a product video and a product side of Sony forwards .. From the front, the SmartWatch 2 visible, which is presented here in a clear, shiny polycarbonate box. The presentation of the clock in the packaging is done and do you get from looking like to try the product.
Unpacking:
The "Pappbanderole" is pushed sideways from the box, then can the box after removing the tape open very easily. The clock is then placed around a piece of hard foam, which is used in the packaging for presentation.
Removed the clock, hard foam piece pushed out of the closed strap side, open bracelet ...
Initial Setup:
As the clock so has only one button, pressing instinctively first one this. Ok .. The display will turn on, there is a symbol that a connection prompts. The clock with the open bracelet I have complied with the NFC antenna of the Xperia Z1 back a few seconds later appeared on my Xperia the message "SmartWatch 2 - connected" The Sony Smart Connect app should to be up to date - especially important for all other Android smartphones. For Android smartphones without NFC simply connects the SmartWatch manually via Bluetooth. The NFC connection is indeed "only" an automated Bluetooth connection when supported pairing NFC done ..
The first few hours:
Apps and settings of the SmartWatch 2 can be made exclusively through the App "Sony Smart Connect". In a way, I see it as nannying (Apple also all of the settings in the system settings were bundled) and in another way it is with new products that are not quite as common a good guide. Via the menu selection you feel the same display all apps that are suitable for the SmartWatch 2 and the SmartWatch 1.
Since there are all sorts of fine things that work very well, or even have scrap ... Further Info: By default, the clock except displaying clock, alarm, timer and "Torch" (this will light the display just white) nothing

So quite a lot .. for my circumstances and SmartWatch :-)
With all this it goes on now ...
The first days:
The SmartWatch 2 automatically establishes a Bluetooth connection always on, once the paired device is within reach. This can be seen very quickly if you can be in the office the phone and moves out of range. Then the clock vibrate briefly when leaving the coverage and again when it connects back into range of smartphones. Once the Bluetooth connection is gone I can see by the relevant apps here as active:
- Facebook (shows recent messages)
- Gmail
- Alarm Clock
- Email (shows recent messages)
- Stopwatch
- Calendar reminders
The time and date can still be read also ;-)
Where we are at reading:
Ergonomics:
The SmartWatch is easy to create with the silicone bracelet chosen by me, and fits on the penultimate hole of the bracelet pleasant (I have stronger wrists ..)
The display reflects when switched backlight fairly. Since this is a transreflective display, the content is readable with sufficient light irradiation even without backlighting. The backlight needs to get to the menu always be activated via the power button .. Ok, but could be left to the user .. or brightness controlled allow the display when pressing the power button, for example, from. The SmartWatch I've taken 2 times overnight .. no I sleep better. The bracelet I do not like at night, depending on how the arm is, pushes the clock. The 2 fixing brackets for the end of the bracelet in my opinion for strong wrists too much - I have one of the insertion tabs pulled after 3 days on the buckle, so it is more comfortable, because one of the tabs always sliding around when you have stronger arms and loose end of the strap is shorter.
But the battery I have now been charged about every 3 days, then was almost final. How long does the battery is as always, depending on how you use the apps which are installed .. 7-10 days to yes in it but be .. then it sure does a "normal" clock ...
The loading of the clock can only be done via microUSB. To do so required for the waterproof "cap" which can easily be solved with a fingernail, are removed, she dangles then captive on the SmartWatch as long as you do not mind pulling with greater violence or tears ..
Design and material:
The housing of the Smart Watch 2 is made of aluminum, the back side of plastic, the strap made of silicone or steel. The construct is in itself .. which includes dustproof waterproof or waterproof to IP57. Whether the display is probably resistant to scratches? What it is for a glass ?? I have no scratches, who knows which glass, please post!
Ah yes .. if you feel like, any 24mm wristband mount (leave). Thus the appearance of the SmartWatch are almost no limits.
To date, the clock is a nice gadget that I would miss but not particularly for me. For this much more, and especially more complete functions are missing. It's nice to be able to read information, as long as you can not do directly on the SmartWatch something regardless of the smart phone, it is mediocre for me with a flair afresh. How long the hold and when the successor comes from and what it can be as much a criterion as future software ...
I'll keep you up to date ..
