At first, I had me a bit of reading or the language used, but there fall some terms as non-native speakers are an ever unknown and which would otherwise not fall within the ordinary books that I read in English. But as soon as my story was understandable, even reading fell slightly as usual. Soon one is in fact already from Meiras story completely captivated what I would actually not intended in the first place. But Meira is a really tough, cool and pleasant young woman who I really like to accompany as protagonist. Also, the structure of the story, the world and the many different characters from Primoria could convince me, although swordplay else actually less likely to fall into my reading scheme. But I found this story quite exciting and can recommend them although you may, like me, no reader of this genre is absolutely clear conscience.
My only criticism would be the fact that for me was quite quickly realized what it could eventually run out. However, it was only a vague suspicion, which I had repeatedly doubted, insofar as this does not weigh as much as it might do in other books. Sara Raasch managed in spite of everything, often enough to surprise me and let me read over 400 pages almost in one go because Meiras story actually contains a good amount of power.
Snow Like Ashes could mean almost nonexistent expectations more than surpassed. This story is an absolutely successful, rousing and worth reading series opener I am looking forward to the continuation and can you recommend it highly, even if it does not fall into your usual genre. For those who do not follow the English rantrauen the German edition will be published under the title snow like ashes with the same great cover in April 2015, CBT. So please mark the same!
