In an interview Wolfsheim told me, the nicest compliment you could make them about their new CD would be to take the time to fully listen to the album without else to do something on the side. If I had the opportunity I would love to tell you that it is absolutely unthinkable for me to concentrate on something else when their music is played. As a longtime fan I know all of their albums and I've never had to listen before buying one. Even with Casting Shadows I was not disappointed. While Spectators had the further development of Dreaming Apes for me, I see Casting Shadows somehow as the further development of Spectators. What I most certainly do not want to say that the music sounds the same. Casting Shadows impresses mainly by Wolfsheim typical warm melancholy that can be felt in some older songs like "Closer Still" and "I don`t love you anymore". All in all, Casting Shadows become a wonderfully harmonious album, yet varied and Peter Heppner's voice is still unsurpassed. This CD Wolfsheim have brought their incomparable musical perfection. On Casting Shadows is not in a song on which you could do without.
