My comments are also less exclusively based on their new CD "Danger of light", but this CD led me in connection with the concert I recently in Munich witnessed by her to a preliminary summary of their previous musical development, as I experience it ,
Her second CD "Mondays ghost", with which they took care of attention was, and is terrific. Such a touching voice was not heard until then, except in the approach to their debut album "Sketches on Sea ..."
And the songs of this CD act as their voice, calmly, as well as intense.
Until then trimmed to reverberant and electronically precisely because of their clarity and calm that is so full of suspense, fascinating, so their new CD "The danger of light" begins hectic, nervous with a slightly washed-out sound, the fan Sophie Hunger Music for me, the drummer to wummig and monotonous.
Undoubtedly, on this CD there are very nice pieces, but the music has a total but lost none of their peace and intimacy. The music is not as differentiated and accurate as particular "Mondays ghost".
The music has become popiger. Sophie Hunger voice can indeed, her voice remains a pleasure. Nevertheless, the question arises: Sophie Hunger is a pop singer? I do not think so. After all, the unique combination of her voice of youthful softness and natural maturation is rather blurred in pop songs. I could imagine a better musical development towards Independent me with her. Her voice is far from the mainstream - and their music it should be.
The slightly slurred vote when recording the CD "The danger of light" is roughly equivalent to that which I have experienced at the concert in Munich.
Therefore, I suspect that this is connected to a musical concept.
A development that I find questionable.
I look forward to the further musical development of Sophie Hunger, because it indisputably is a stunning young woman with a voice to fall in love.
