Is it, however, be able to all the fuss to see the plate to as one of the last remaining supposedly real and surely eccentric rock stars to forget Axl at least partially, so a little less Boulevard and more music, a plate is over, the more substance and quality which, as most have expected 'and also more than many others now seem to be willing to admit.
'Chinese Democracy' is complex and multifaceted and partly almost overloaded, and therefore needs more than a safe passage to understand and to love. This effect then arises, however, quite fast, and suddenly appear that which only sounds unusual, and not at all like "Welcome to the Jungle, Baby", as familiar and as a logical progression if you look at the way of the almost punk beginnings look over the aggressive-snotty "Appetite for Destruction" to the often complex arrangements carried on "Use Your Illusion" I + II. After that it could not and must not be a "Back to the roots" because the band with this sound never as good, let alone become authentic would be as it was in the 80s.
The board starts as her story mysterious and wabernd and impalpable. Only after a minute leaves a first guitar riff sit up, and there is a good deal kontemporärer, coherent and partly loud rock music. With "Shackler's Revenge" there is then only unusual modernity, with synths and more, but then a wonderful chorus that stays in the ear, straight rocking and Axl can sound like it should.
Sometime later, it is clear: Who as Guns n 'Roses fan on tracks like "Better" or "Sorry" does not therefore popping the synapses who has never lived or felt. In particular, the latter track provides deep insights, as if there was Pink Floyd in Hard Rock, still rocking, and with a finale that has perhaps just needs 15 years, while the former is probably the strongest song of the record, with a fantastic structure, melancholy yet a little anger. "Street of Dreams" could come from Use Your Illusion, with piano, many feelings, yet heavy guitars' The same goes for "There was a time". Both songs are ballads, but do not forget the stone from which they originate.
Other highlights follow: "Catcher in the Rye" in the best tradition of complex songs of the past, and "Scraped", despite some very down to earth and synths in the chorus and structurally almost down to earth and hard rocking. Also found here. The same goes for "Riad N 'the Bedouins", with good drive and a chorus, which you will not get rid of after the first hearing. At the end of the plate is again complex, quiet place with "Prostitute" an almost fragile financial statements' remains particularly rousing.
Miscellaneous Gitarriste bring color into play (the credits per song and the drive are unmanageable and minutely), although perhaps here and there a homogenener style of Slash as missing, the member, who may be next to Izzy Stradlin missing safe. Ever had here also again the depth mentioned that reveal a lot of songs. Empire orchestrated, often arranges complex, one notices in many places, how much time has gone into this record. A miracle at all, that after this long creative period and varied occupation ever such a homogeneous work has come out. A masterpiece of Axl and the art and the team behind it. And above all hovers anyway Axl, not only vocally with this still unique organ, but also as the father of most of the ideas, and writers of all (somewhat typical) Lyrics.
Secure the plate is not perfect. Here and there you could tell that something was filed too long on some songs and passages, and sure we would all welcome, if for example, would accompany the first verse of 'If the world' instead of the drum loop from a real drum kit. Overall, however, however, detract from the quality in the whole hardly a crash.
All the bad reviews, with perky 1 of 10 possible points where hüftlahme mid-forties often in magazines that otherwise do not have much with rock or roll the hat, looking for a new "Paradise City", are to be pitied. That the band and quasi also the listeners 15 years of rock and contemporary history, and so, be sure also denied a certain aging is absurd, but simple. Since partially dripping bias of each line, and often hardly what is said to the music, just for comic Axl to 15 years, and 13 million dollars. Boulevard galore, and highly subjective, with superficial, and often not relevant word to music. When all had been lurking in the shadows in order to distinguish themselves properly by a slam.
"Chinese Democracy" is not as important as the drumbeats of the band in the late 80 and early 90s were. Nevertheless, this is an album about which one will speak with good reason too in 10 years' if you allow it. Not only with Dr. Pepper.
