Now, after 3 weeks in the daily operation, I am convinced that it is worth the price and would not want to return. But now only times in succession:
1st appearance
That a Zenbook class has, in my view, is already in the package, it comes in a noble-looking cardboard packaging, to plastic is dispensed ... a plus point towards environmental protection. After opening the package holding the UX305 in hands, the aluminum body looks and feels high quality first class. Speaking of aluminum Body: This affects not only the touch but also visually TOP me.
To paint: This is not black, seems to me in any case very appealing.
2. Package
In addition to the UX305 is included:
- A power supply: BRAVO Asus, the power supply is very small and light, the cable but still sufficiently long
- USB LAN Adapter
- A cleaning cloth
- A quality Case for UX305
- A "Cable Tie", enables you to bind cable tidy
An adapter for VGA or HDMI you have to get yourself that you will not find yourself supplied (in other models of the Zenbook series apparently already)
3. Performance and Handling
If you put primarily on processing power value, the UX305 (like most Ultrabooks) not the best choice. For me, however, was at the forefront:
- Mobility: TOP, really with 1.24 kg lightweight
- Battery life: good, keeps in Office and Internet use more than the estimated 7 hours
- Heat emission: practically not noticeable, the Core M stops here what it promises
- Noise: there are no holds here too the core M what it promises
When many applications are running simultaneously, it is rare to micro-stuttering, the work flow is not disturbed. When you start GIMP I have to wait a few seconds longer than with other computers, with whom I work. When using Office and internet I noticed any differences from other hardware systems.
The data input from the keyboard is really fun. The keys are large and have failed a pleasant pressure point. I have already written on many notebook keyboards, which were significantly worse ...
The touchpad: Here we come to probably the biggest point of criticism (especially if you read other reviews):
Above all: YES, the buttons on the touchpad produce a noticeable sound, and that is undisputed. I for myself can live with it but good, but let everyone decide for themselves. That you want to return the UX305 so again, I can not understand ... more
Because Speaking of criticism: the lack of keyboard illumination to the German model of the UX305 hurts of course, on the other hand I'm going to assume that this situation will have a positive effect on the battery life.
4. Display
I opted for the Full HD version, since I have heard often that individual programs have problems with 4K resolution. The anti-glare display is for me anyway 1A, even in bright daylight can work without interference.
CONCLUSION: I have informed myself thoroughly before buying and my expectations were met 100%. Who is a noble-acting, very lightweight Ultrabook with great display, functional keyboard, good battery life, but searches without noise and heat should look at the UX305 seriously.
