I am a hardcore player Boyd (at least I thought to be), but nothing in this novel captivated me. The detective plot is very low end and never manages to convince the characters are hollow and stereotypical and situations which follow leave an aftertaste of deja vu (in a TV movie on RTL9). From the first pages we understand that we need to revise our expectations downwards: the translation is surprisingly poor and the author hardly justify the illogical behavior of his character. What sane person being the victim of an assassination would handle the murder weapon before leaving on site and run away? Anything ... I still finished the book somehow, but only out of loyalty to the father of the New Confessions of A or Open Book. In other circumstances, I would never have happened on page 20.
